SMARTY Made it through AZ Emissions Testing

This was the first year I had to do the annual emission test on my Cummins. Not wanting a bunch of smoke, I loaded the #0 software and drove it to the testing station. The measured Opacity was 6. 1 on a limit of 30. 0

In AZ they put you on the rollers and you have to get the speed up to 47-53 MPH in any gear you want. I used 4th gear and created quite a racket in the testing building. I could see employees covering their ears while I was running.



SW #0 WORKS!! Oo.

I am so glad we do not have to do that here in Texas ... YET! . . I am sure there will come a day though.

For diesels here in Texas you pay your $10, they check the safety items (horn, lights, wipers, brakes etc) and slap the new sticker on and away you go

On rollers huh. That is interesting since I just did mine a month ago and it was the 6 snap test, no rollers. I wonder what that is about. Reading was 0 opacity and allowed 40. Of course that was with the box off and 3/4 throttle.

if you got a 6. 1 and 30 was the limit you should have cranked it up just to see what it would do! I'm sure the guy testing it would have been impressed. :-laf Tell him you thought the rollers were a dyno!

I don't think those guy's have that kind of humor. When I pulled in they donned their masks. I asked the attendant if it was that bad with a diesel. He replied that they are told to wear the masks because of cancer concerns with diesel vehicles

:--) I can just imagine what they'd do if I said "hold on a minute, I need to change the programming in my ECM to make some power" Probably call the Air Quality folks on me and I'd NEVER get a renewal for the registration EVER again.

I can make REAL smoke on anything above#1

SW #0 Is half stock power, correct? I REALLY want to know how that SW will do with some big Mach injectors.

Here in NV. the test is on the rollers and the only way you don't pass is to fail the visual. My friend and I went in to see who could fail first. I had a Bell Usb turbo 130hp injectors and comp set to kill and could only blow a 3. The test is a joke. I can blackout the freeway if I want. I still go in with my mach 6's,comp on and the twins and blow a 3. In Nv they have a # to call to report a smoking vehicle and the advertise it on billboards as a license plate and it says 686smog. I have that same plate on my truck. I could not believe they sent it to me.
