OK, after all the posts lately I want my own smarty Junior but am try to figure out if it will save me any money. I did some math and here is the short version what I came up with.

I get 18 mpg now if the smarty increased that to 20 mpg, and fuel stays at 3. 50 a gallon I would save 500 dollars every 25,000 miles ( about a years worth of driving for me and about the cost of the smarty)

My question what kind of mileage increase are smart junior users seeing

Joe

I'm seeing about 1 mpg increase. The chief benefit is lower egt's and dramatically enhanced driveability. You can also self-diagnose problems and adjust tire sizes.

mileage gains is directly related to the heaviness of your right foot. i gained roughly 1. 5 mpg with the smarty, but let me assure you that 99. 25% of the people would still have the smarty if it didnt increase mileage at all.

Yep!!! :-laf

Justify any way you want just don't expect any great increases. More often than not its a wash or loss in mpg due to the "grin" factor. :D:D

if you look at the overhead in my truck it increased 5. 2 miles per gallon but of course that is not even close it's more like 1. 25 to 1. 5 mpg. its the smooth power that makes it way more city friendly. what I mean is more throttle movement at lower rpm. Other downloaders i've used put fueling at the top of the pedal the smarty uses all of the throttle movement. making smooth power to make it not seem like your racing at all the stop lights.

I'm looking to get an enhancer myself. This Jr seems to be a good one. I'm concerned about having to BEEF UP other things tho. My 04. 5 is new to me and appears to be all stock without a muffler. I didn't want to have to buy a heftier clutch or a larger lift pump. Would this Jr be easy on the rest of the truck?

I'm about to start my own Hot Shot service with a CGVW of 34k. I'm not sure this stock truck will pull it very easy. My 01 was enhanced and did a good job with a gross of 16k. This 04. 5 seems to have as much power as my enhaced 01 but I haven't pulled a heavy load yet. Can anyone suggest an enhancer that will not punish the rest of my 04. 5 3500 dually 2wd manual 3. 73?

Thanks

The smarty JR is supposed to work on stock trucks with no other mods. The easiet thing to do is to mod your intake with the Home depot mod for more air. Inexpensive and works as good as $400 systems. Drivability will feel better with a Smarty JR.

No. No such thing exists. Only way to be nice to your truck with that kind of weight is to be nice to it.

You can most certainly mod it w/o sacrificing longevity, as long as you drive nice. That's the hard part.

I've been enhanced for about 150K. So far no probs due to enhancement.

I made one simlar... sorta. Instead of a dryer vent, I used a piece of flexible dryer hose. I cut a hole in the front inner fender, the one that's in front of the one in the wheel well. It doesn't show unless you pop the hood. Anyway, I ran the hose thru the cutout and right behind the bumper. The way it fit in there I didn't even need to tie it off to anything.

Don't know if it accomplished anything but I wasn't running any higher EGT's with that setup and a paper filter than I do with my AFE PG7 on the BD X-intake. Can't use my dryer hose setup anymore until I get a new filterminder. Mine done blowed up.

I used a toilet flange and some hose on the bottom of the air box. Some guys use a 4" 90 degree fitting. Use a higher flow air filter and your good till ~450hp.
