Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone is close that has a Smarty S-03 that would be willing to load the software and then return back to stock so I can have the 6cyl high idle and 3cyl high idle features enabled on my truck?

I'm pretty sure the smarty is by VIN number and can only be used on a certain VIN. I don't think anyone can help you other than the dealer or buying a smarty. Maybe a good suggestion to Bob would be a limited version of the smarty with the capability of changing factory parameters such as (adjusting tire size, fixing trouble codes, etc. )

From what i've read, the Smarty is VIN locked to one vehicle at a time. So they would have to return their truck back to stock, load the Smarty into my truck, then return mine back to stock and I will have all the newest updates and they will be able to put their Smarty back into their truck.

Wes, you're correct. A Smarty owner can reflash the stock software on their truck and then that Smarty can be used on any other truck. JR2 is currently loaning me his Smarty in this manner.

Wes,

Check with these guys at the NETDP site.

I would think someone is near you. If not you could always meet them on a Friday night in Derby.

Wes,

I have a Smarty for my 01. I'd be willing to meet to do this, but I'm not exactly near Torrington. Meet halfway somewhere on a weekend? My job brings me to Thomaston on Wednesdays for a short period of time. I'd be in a hurry and wouldn't be able to chew the fat for long. Either way would be fine, though. Weekend would give us more time to play.

Joe, I'm a regular on NETDP and made a post at the time I made this one. I guess theres only a handfull of guys that have a Smarty and they might not have seen it.

Ken, we might be able to work something out. Perhaps not this weekend though as weather is looking bad and i'll be busy if thats the case. I don't know if more time to play would be good or not. I have a stock clutch and shallow pockets these days as im a student in PA. I'll shoot you a PM when I figure something out. Thanks for all the replies guys!

No problem. I remember when I was in school, someone told me that you're never poorer than the day you graduate college. Know what? 13 1/2 years later, and that's not too far from the truth!

Hey Ken,

If you see this i'm just letting you know it worked! I didn't plug my truck in the other night and when I fired it up this morning the idle came up to 1200r's. It made me smile. . Thanks again for your help

Hey, no problem! I wasn't sure it was going to get cold enough for it to work, but mother nature helped out. Glad I could help.
