Well, I finally loaded the new software yesterday and went for a drive. The Smarty certainly met my expectations in an initial trial run. The truck I used it on is an '03 305/555 6spd, bone stock. I downloaded #7, the 130hp w. timing software and was very impressed with the increase in power and driveability. There was some smoke if you got on it at lower rpm's, but it didn't seem too bad to me. I'll have to check to see if my Smarty came with the "less smoke" software or not.

The real test will be to see how she performs loaded up to 19,000 - 20,000 GCVW, but the camper and trailer are put away for the season. So far, so good. Oh and no funny noises, rattling or pinging.

Thanks Marco and Bob Wagner.

Cheers,

Dave

I'm in line for the 06 smarty... my truck has a drop in air filter and 4" cat back exhaust... . not planning or running more than the 30hp software (maybe 60hp, but dont want to smoke my transmission)..... what's the recommended level for towing? (is with timming or without timming) better for towing?

I just installed a smarty on a 03 so truck this AM. He called me after pulling his 27" Hallet Boat(BBC powered)up the Cajon pass @ 70 mph on level 1. He was amazed at the increased performance on level 1

glad to see that patience is paying off. There is alot more to come

Bob, if you get a chance, look at the numbers I put down this weekend with just a smarty and a SP box being used for the electronics

also check mine out with just a smarty and small pressure box. stock turbo,cp3,and clutch that slipped. i haven't been able to stop thinking about that smarty since. i may be going threw with draw.

Robert,

I hate to say this, but your clutch didn't slip. I saw your dyno sheet, and with the curve you had, there is no way your clutch slipped.

even with that dyno curve when i got back in the truck i could not depress the clutch pedal i had to smash it to the ground 4to5 times be fore my truck would even go into reverse. that tells me the clutch had to slip very badly.

or i could be wrong and there is another explanation for the clutch pedal getting very hard and not being able to get it in gear even with the clutch fully depressed.

i think i do remember reading somewhere that the stock hydrolics can get hydro locked, when spun to high rpm's that could be the case.

No no no. Wade said it spun on the dyno. LOL :-laf

to be clear, this is what the opperator said-------first run--spun on the dyno made 550hp and aroun 1000tq. second run clutch slipped, made----555hp and just over 1000tq, stock clutch, yea guys it slipped... ... ... ... ... ... ...
