to be clear, this is what the opperator said-------first run--spun on the dyno made 550hp and aroun 1000tq. second run clutch slipped, made----555hp and just over 1000tq, stock clutch, yea guys it slipped... ... ... ... ... ... ... :cool:

Actually Wade, it is fairly common for these to slip on the dyno for the first run. Some times they just do not get them strapped down right on the first run and have to go a little tighter. I had one run the other week that I spun on the roller. Tightened her down and let it rip again. :D

I think you will be impressed with towing with your Smarty :D

I pull a 10k skid loader and the SMARTY on SW7 alone,... no other stuff stacked with it,... has given me the best towing experience I have ever had with anything I've run. Outstanding!! :D

stock turbo, we took off the intake boot and found that the turbo wheel had been grinding against the housing. its from too much boost. yesterday on the dyno was his first time over 40 psi, before it was a max of 35. i guess the smarty really puts the power down... ... ... ... Oo.

tried to tell you guys a stock charger would not last at 550-600 HP ;) :-laf

it was closer to the bottom number though. i figured i could trust your judgement :-laf J/K

when i left the clutch was slipping when downshifting too.

so a turbo and a clutch in one weekend. not good. :eek:

we knew the risk, but wanted to prove it could be done on a stock charger, clutch, cp3, rail valve. now its time to put a clutch and cp3, and cap the rail---and put down some real power :-laf

also stop laughing at my misfortune :-laf :-laf ;)

im really glad i can laugh about all of this. :-laf :{ :{

lloyd you have 2 turbos so you have one to spare right? Oo.

Just for another reference, I recently put down 512hp 921tq on the stock turbo (43psi), stock G56 clutch, stock CP3 and intank lift pump. No clutch slippage and no pedal issues. I had Smarty on 90hp w/timing, TST on 3x1, DDP 90hp injectors. I probably should have turned up the TST and tried to break 1000fl/lbs but I just wanted to see what it made in normal driving configuration. I was quite happy.

No tire slippage either but I did have 4 rear tires for grip. Okay, 1 1/2 on each side since the dually hangs over the roller a bit. :-laf

i like the smarty so much i just put my bullydog with crazy larry and torque management delete for sale classified ads.

we knew it could be done with a stock cp3 and rail valve. Even stock injectors... 600 is no problem...

OK guys, a couple of questions;

- 1) OT-OF-HERE: Any idea of your EGT's on SW7 towing with the skid steer on board? I was under the impression that SW3 or SW5 would be better for towing?

- 2) RobertP. My 305/555 is bone stock except for the Smarty and my new Southbend Con OFE. Are you suggesting that there is another weak link I should consider or just more load on everything due to the power increase?

- 3) Regarding the stock turbo: I didn't think the Smarty increased boost levels. Isn't that why people stack and/or run a boost fooler? In a totally stock configuration plus the Smarty, am I increasing boost? and if I am is it likely enough to cause problems?

Sorry for the stupid questions. Unlike you hotrodders, my truck is used mainly for towing!

Cheers,

Dave

#3 All a boost fooler does is keep the ECM from seeing actual boost so you don't set a code. I'm not sure if the Smarty does "boost fooling" yet, but I think it does. Even if your wastegate is in the stock configuration, on the higher levels of the Smarty, it will provide so much fuel that the wastegate will not be able to bleed off the extra exhaust gasses to keep boost in check. So, ya, it will give you more boost. Ask RobertP if it causes problems. :p
