i finally have some money to drop on fuel enhancement but should i start with a Smarty or and Edge Comp Hot. i know the edge would make more power and the smarty has alot of nice features (code reading,ect... ). i like the idea of the edge because of the onethefly selectability and the proposed HP gain. but where would my money be better spent. i like the idea of the comp hot due to the 3200rpm fueling, but do i need it? would the smarty and comp hot stack well? is there a better chip than the edge comp? a best? i want something that i can build with. (injectors,kompressor... . )

whats my best bet.

Smarty will be way better day to day driving, nice performance that is there every time press the throttle. The Comp would be better for satisfying those wildly randon testosterone urges. but much less usable day to day.

The Smarty changed my whole outlook on performance mods, it is something to build mod's around for a street driven truck that has to work occasionally. But it would be not quite as good if you are wanting your truck to be a all out racer or puller.

I just installed my Comp today. I really don't notice much of a drivability difference from before (Smarty was always on #9). I still have to watch the low-boost throttle, but the power is certainly there if I want it.

Of course, my injectors are probably affecting my Smarty-alone and Smarty-with-Comp experiences.

I started with super chips, then to ez, then comp, after that marco's madd cathcher ecm, and now the madd smarty. I could have saved A fortune if Marco would have had the smarty when I first started bombing. The smarty is the best single mod I have ever made. Even if You are wanting to do serious racing it should be first after gauges. After that You will need to work on the trany if You have auto, clutch if You have stick. Then You will be wanting even more and be ready for injectors, don't try to start out small and cheap (You get what you pay for), don't try to go too big either. With stock turbo You wouldn't want to go over 100-125 hp either, spend the money for A quality set in this range(it will save You in the long run). This is the point where I am now and there is not much in this area that can run away from Me. The truck right now is very fun to drive and gets great mileage. Anything more and You start running into much more money and more than one thing done at A time to be fully effective. I am beginning to pick up the parts A piece at A time until I can tear it down and o-ring head, install helix cam, larger more durable turbo rated for the 500-600 hp range and HRVP-44. I've tried all the combinations and spent enough to do this all by now and I hope somebody can learn by My mistakes and save themselves A lot of work and money so they can enjoy the mighty Cummins at it's best.

10-4 Don :)

I guess by "driveability" what I meant was stock + Smarty compared to stock + Comp. The Smarty will enhance almost all daily driving, where the Comp will enhance the "more all out" driving.
