Well I decided to try out SW9 today and much to my surprise it felt weaker than SW7. Now mind you I have not confirmed the numbers on a dyno but the smoke output on SW9 was nearly non-existent. To me SW9 felt like SW5. So I was wondering what you other 03-04 guys have found to be the best setting for you, I guess my truck likes SW7 the best for some reason. Oh and incase you were wondering I'm running the 4. 11 version on my SMARTY. I would like to upgrade but since I have a MAC i thought I would get some input before I send it in to be upgraded. I like the idea of the POD so I may send it in just for that when it becomes available. Oh and did I mention this thing felt like a dog when I loaded the STOCK SW when I took the truck in for service, I love my SMARTY.

Never been on sw9 for long enough to tell you but i know it was pulling harder than sw5. I left it on sw5 for 4 months then went to sw7 and its been there for 3 or so maybe its time to go to sw9 but i have a (250hp S. O) motor hope that helps.
 
You may be running out of fuel running above sw5 on your truck. Do you have a stock fuel pump? Remember its not only pressure you need to worry about volume is a concern too.

No fuel pump mods only stock CP3 and updated in-tank lift pump. Do you guys have a recommendations for a fuel set-up for the in-tank retro-fit pumps.
 
Your going to have to drop the tank and install a drawstraw for an external pump. I'm running a Walbro on mine at 26#.

In the list of settings that came with mine it says that SW8 & 9 is a 170Hp increase for 04. 5 and up trucks only and that the 03 and 04 trucks it provides a second 130 Hp with even more reduced torque management and increased low end fueling This should explain the added smoke on those settings
 
sw9 might be asking too much fuel and draining your rail. just bite the bullet and get an aftermarket fuel system. you really cant go wrong with an airdog, raptor, walbro, fass, etc. I backed mine off to sw7, power 99 after I got the beta pod and its as strong on the bottom end as sw9 before I sent it off
 
Thanks for all the input guys. It looks like its time for a fuel system. How hard are they to install aside from dropping the tank to do it. How much could I expect to pay somebody to install an air dog or walbro for me along with a fuel pressure gauge.

They are not difficult to install if you have patience and take your time. Call Richard at Glacier 509-993-4923, he will answer your concerns, even if you don't buy from him.



What I found out, after I upgraded my lift pump, sw#9 really didn't give me anything more than sw#7, except more smoke, and a lot higher egt's. It took a bigger turbo before I could utilize sw#9 on my 03.



Don't give up on the 411 software just yet, mine is still on my desktop, I may still go back to it. It is way stronger than Revo, and my 03 has not made nice with TNT just yet, still working on it.

Your OEM pump is on the fuel filter not in the tank (unless you had it upgraded to the in tank 04. 5 pump). I've got the FASS and didn't have to drop the tank for install. Overall it was pretty easy to do.

I second Rob at Performance Car and Truck. He knows his stuff, especially Cummins. He installed my FASS and I was very satisfied with the installed price.
