I have a 99 [5 speed] truck with 150 hp "dragon flow" injectors, HTB2 64/14 turbo, edge comp. I am wondering how to get more control of the fueling on it. The comp isn't giving me enough low boost fueling control. This isn't just a cloud on take off. It is a steady cloud the whole time when I am towing & that is on level 1X1 on the comp. I am changing the 64/14 to a 62/12 this week, but I still want the adjustment to eliminate the clouds. I am very happy with the industrial injection dragons & do not want to change them. I just want to know if a smarty will help to clear it up or if I will have to change my injectors to get some control. Thanks in advance

I have never been around the dragon flows that you have but, with a similar setup my brothers truck tows really well. I obviously smokes during acceleration but he has never mentioned a problem during towing.

On your comp try to up the level to 2x1 or 3x1. I believe the main settings deal more with timing and the sub levels deal with fuel. So on the levels like 3x1 you get the timing to compensate for the added fuel by the injectors without adding extra fuel. Something to try before you go and spend more $$$.

I've tried every level, every way possible & only a very small change in clouds. Just made it a little more gray rather than black. Thanks

I have towed with a similar setup, and did have the clouds that you are talking about. I towed with Mach 4's, drag comp, and a Cool Twist turbo (slightly bigger then the 64/14). I would check the map sensor and the air charge temp sensor, and make sure they are in spec. Make sure you don't have any boost leaks. Passenger side boot often gets a whole rubbed in it. What are your EGT's like?

I get to 1350 sometimes. [briefly] At w. o. t. I get to 1500 or so & have to drive by the pyro when towing. I checked my boost leaks by air pressure in the turbo air intake inlet with the regulator set at 20 psi. & found a leak at the intake manifold cover. Fixed it yesterday. It now has 0 leaks. I also checked for codes with my scan tool & no codes returned. Can the map etc. still be bad if it shows no codes?

the smarty will get your turbo spooling much quicker and it helps to clear low end smoke.

Talk to Brady at II

Brady recommended it, but he didn't really get into details on advantages/ disadvantages of the smarty. He just said it worked well, but I wanted to see if it would help my adjustment to get rid of the clouds.
