Just got my new Smarty and using it with a currently stock truck. I have the Rokktech crank position sensor mod for better fuel economy right now. For the time being I am just using the lower Smarty programs so.....

with the Smarty programs which add timing, should I remove the Rokktech ?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I just got the smarty from tst this week. I have the Rokktech sensor on my truck and haven't moved it or put the original back in and so far no codes or anything. Before I bought the smarty I talked to Mark at tst and he told me the Rokktech doesn't really do anything for the money beings they did a thorough test on it. Anyway after I installed the Rokktech I did notice my engine had a little more of a rattle but never noticed any egt reduction or mileage gains. I have been running the smarty on levels 3-7 and haven't noticed any more engine rattle then before but I have the quick throttle response :)

smarty can be run on all levels with the Rokktech sensor

Thanks. It seemed to rattle a bit more with the Smarty + Rokktech but not to an objectionable level.

Just wondered if the Rokktech was even necessary with Smarty?

I would, mainly because of the extensive R&D done on the Smarty that didn't include an extra 2 degrees thrown in the mix.

stover- I did 3 degrees via tone ring on my 03 and noted the same as you. . little more noise, no more mpg. I did the same on my 05 and got an increase in mpg with no more noise.

I see that the NoX levels were listed higher on my CA 03 vs my 05's engine sticker which makes me wonder if initial timing was dialed back to lower NoX.

If thats true the results I got between the 03 & 05 would make sense.

I took my Rokktech off when I add the Smarty.

Black Pearl has it right, IMO. The SMARTY has got to have 15* to 18* by itself, and if you add 2* or 3* more with the Rocktech you will have the rattle, and maybe even the dreaded high rpm pop... at least on my ride. I stack the SMARTY with the TST w/user adj timing and you have to turn the TST timing off to keep from inj rattle.

TST w/ adj user timing feature is a critical element in most high hp stacks and if you ask the people who have really tested this issue then you'll find a lot of stacks don't work properly due to toooooooooo much timing. The TST let's you tune it in and NObody else is offering that, to my knowledge.

I run a Smarty, EZ, Boost fooler, Roktek, and its works great. A little rattle on a cold morning, but it will do it if the Smarty is with or without timing  but its not bad.
