SMARTY S-02A v/s S-03A- What's the difference?

I just bought a new Smarty model S02A.
I read the instructions then went to the madselectronics.com page to check for software downloads, and their d/l page starts with S-03A.

Whats up with that?
What is the difference between the models?

I couldn't find any related articles on TDR, so i figured I ought to start a new one; Share the Knowledge!

The SO3A is the 03-05. 5 smarty :-laf I see what you mean about the operating manuel differs from the part number.

Yes, Bob is just giving you all the information the 2 is for your 99 the 3 is for the newer HPCR rigs. no worries. plug and play

FWIW, S-03A is for 98. 55 - 2002 trucks (same as S-02A, I think), and not for any Common-Rail trucks.

Although the model numbers may have changed, I'm thinking that my just-purchased Smarty is new enough to already have the improvements listed on the SW update page. I noticed that all the updates are dated April '05, so I expect mine may be the the same as version one or version two . zip. Versions three and four offer anti-theft options (good idea, living in MEMPHIS!) on top of/including version two.

Anyhow, that is MY GUESS.
I'm just looking for clarification/verification before I hook up any cables or do anything to it other than sending it back UNUSED and insisting on getting a NEW Smarty instead of New Old Stock.

I will talk to marco tomorrow. I see where the confusion is . The website and manuals say S03A but our serial numbering system still shows S02A

I have verified with the production department, a lot of Smarty model S-03 have the serial number starting with S02. I have just corrected our site.

To identify exactly your Smarty, please check the serial number in the white label:
the first 3 characters of the serial number identify the Smarty model:
S02. . = Smarty model S-03A
S03. . = Smarty model S-03A
S04. . = Smarty model S-04A
S06. . = Smarty model S-06A

FWIW - I updated the software on my S02 Smarty to version 4. 07 this morning.
