Can someone explain to me in english what this # means on smarty SJ67P1001296, what do I have? I KNOW it's a serial number but beyond that? Do I have what is needed for deletes how can I tell when I plug in if things are as they should be?

You have a Smarty Jr for the 6.7L. Unless you were able to download the ME software (or someone prior to you) then it is just the standard EPA software. If you plug it in it will tell you what version of software is loaded in it.

I think you have an older Smarty JR that can accept the ME tune's. Mad's Web site had stated that any new Smarty sold after a certain date would have the "US" in the serial number and these would not accept the ME tune. Here is the link to the press link.

Now you also have to make sure that the Smarty is not VIN locked to a different truck or you will not be able to use this Smarty JR on your truck.

Here is a link that you may want to read from a different forum.

I have dealt with Blake Clark before on his truck and my truck and Blake put together a very good write up.

Thank you Kevin and Jim I called the guy I purchased unit from n he's an auto tech and he told me it's good to go so as soon as I loaded tune it did it's thing but I was non the wiser cuz it doesn't say "x,y,z" is gone now so for two weeks I've been just a tooling round oblivious to what is now not there, how long can I go before I have to buy pipe?, or can I go California style indefinitely?

If the programming is not there to clean the equipment, it is going to clog up in a hurry. If the DPF software is gone, the DPF equipment needs to go very soon.

Yes; you can do the stealth (Calif) style delete. Here is a link to another forum from a guy called dad2bike. He has a journal that covers his stealth delete on his truck. He had started out using sims, and on this post he has converted to a Smarty in this post. The thread is called Tom's Smarty journal and on page 2 he talks about the smarty install along with his passing the emission inspection on page 110 half way down.
