THANKS! That's the best way to describe me!

That's it! Smarty should be called: A tool FROM a Dodge Diesel enthusiast FOR the Dodge diesel enthusiasts! My truck is my developing and testing tool but also my daily driver and toy! I believe that's what makes me and thus Smarty different from the other products.

Let me develop the concept of your MSG further .

Speaking in general, I look arround me and I don't like what I see. Almost every product, be that a computer rather than a TV set , shoes, clothing or whatever... . Seem to be build in way to make it as cheap as possible. Everything looks like something has been taken away, in order to make more money out of it!

That is corporate GREED! Make as much MONEY as possible out of it.

To make things even worse, in order to make even more money, they go and produce their products where the labour costs less. China is an good example. .

They take the jobs away from our homeland(s)!

MONEY!

All they care about is MONEY!

Where are the times gone when we were PROUD to produce QUALITY?

Where are the times gone when we were PRIDE of the job we were doing?

Money, Money, Money!

In my mind there are a lot of things that are much more important than Money!

The family, honesty, moral integrity, HONOR, PRIDE in what I do... .

That is what really counts!

Smarty has been thought and developed entirely in house. All labour is done IN HOME. No cheapo wages, no cheapo parts to make more money.

Sure I will make less money out of Smarty, I don't care! Pride in what I'm doing... FIRST... .

OK, off rant now...

What really counts.

I'd like to take a moment and wish a Merry and Peacefull Christmas to you and your beloved ones.

Hohn, seriously... how too good to be true are the mileage gains???? (I thought you posted something like that already, cant find it though)

I've only made one hwy run with the mpg-tuned ECM, down to Denver and back.

Bad traffic, no cruise control, and TERRIBLE winds (if you've driven I-25 from Cheyenne to Denver, you know this is no joke) yielded 22. 8 mpg.

This particular ECM doesn't support my 02's electronic CC (it's off an older truck), so I can't comment on the effect on mpg of not having CC other than to say that CC usually gives me better mpg.

I was convinced that the ECM gave me better mpg, but I can't *prove* it, per se, and i can't quantify it, either.

So it's safe to say that 27mpg is what that same trip with the CC would have yielded?

greetings from Iraq

I've been out of the loop for a while ever since I was called to the Middle East, but I'm able to check in with TDR every now and again. It seems like one minute Marco's coming out with a revolutionary ECM flash and the next minute he's come out with an ECM programming module. If only Middle Eastern politics could move that fast!

I remember watching an episode of Rides when they built an overly powerful Corvette and brought in a specialist to program the ECM. I thought to myself, "WOULDN'T THAT BE GREAT IF WE COULD DO THE SAME WITH OUR TRUCKS!"

And now we can..... Thanks Marco!

I can't wait to come home so that I can plug in the Smarty and do my best to avoid speeding tickets.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season to all of you and yours.

So, the smarty is step 2, what will step 3 be Marco? Ok, maybe im wishing here a little, but how about a whole new ecm with integrated wire tap fueling box?? I would imagine you could make wicked horsepower with a level of smoothness and driveability we can only currently dream about. No more stacking of products, just one computer that does it all. Please please :)

Step 3?

Step two is not finished yet...

In mind the next step is to get a CaTCHER software worked out that fuels hard up to 4K. Without the need for drugs. # 2 only... .

I have a rather good idea about the how to, in theory. We'll see... .

Marco

Im looking foward to try the smarty , hoping that with the extreme timing it can spool large singles .

In the future i hope Marco or someone will make a stand alone ECU , and let the user program the tables they want timing and fuel curves etc . Its been done for years in gas applications example DFI , FAST ,ACCEL and many others offer stand alone ECUs and has helped propel HI HP cars/trucks to b daily drivers and with a push of a key can tear up the trac , hopfully the diesel market will follow

If Marco can get rid of those extra injection events so we end up with the only one we need. And also give us some timing. I can do the rest with the tst and va3. 1. I don't need much more rpms. I don't know what my stock valve train can stand and I shift before 3200 rpm.

27? It was more like 50

On a good day, the 22. 8 might have gone up to 24+... . MAYBE.

I'm curious to try the "fuel saver" version in the Smarty, as it's different than what i was testing (I have since learned).

Also, the "half power" SW seems like it would be a VERY useful fuel saver if your running larger injectors.

I think my next step for MPG enhancement is a Dynatrac manual hub kit. I have an 02 with no CAD, so I feel like there are a couple mpgs more available to me if I could avoid spinning the entire front axle all the time. -jh

Well guys I have received my Smarty for testing and have done just a little with the amount of extra time I had over the weekend.

1. Downloading the Smarty in the truck was a snap. Just follow the instructions and there is no problem. The Smarty counts down the amout of % of the program that is being downloaded. You can figure it takes 100 seconds to download 100%.

2. I have 2 trucks one with the CaTHER installed and one truck stock. The truck with the CaTHER has 275 injectors and a boost elbow. Both trucks have the FASS. I only did the testing on the stock truck. Don't want to lose the CaTHER right now.

3. The stock truck with #9 program intstalled runs empty just like the CaTHER truck. Cant' tell any different. I'm sure there is some difference but running unloaded I can not tell it.

4. Had to try the #0 program. Yep that is what you get HALF POWER. What a DOG. The best thing I can think this program is good for is... . Sure 16 year old son you can borrow the truck... . just give me a couple of min. to program my truck.....

5. Going from one program to another is a snap also. Takes very little time. Checked for codes on this truck and found one. The Smarty cleared it. No problems.

6. At the present time I have downloaded the Smarty in of of my Friends truck and told him to drive it a couple of days. This guy has had nothing but stock truck. It is a 6 speed while mine are a 5 speed. This Smarty downloaded in my friends truck just a easy as in mine. Will get his reaction as soon as I talk to him.

Marco, this is the cats meow... ... This Smarty will most likley fill most everyones needs. Of course there are those that will want MORE AND MORE on the top end.

From the half power to the full blown CaTHER #9 and with everything in between. I could not ask for anything more. This Smarty will do everything I want to do for my truck and more. Thanks Marco and I will be doing more testing when time permits. Best thing is I can let my Buds do some testing for me and get some more opinions... .

Just to piggyback on Scott's questions, will this Smarty have some capabilities of a DRB3 scan tool for 3rd gens in addition to code reading, such as:

-injector kill functions for diagnosing injector and fuel problems

-rail pressure commanded versus actual

-APPS diagnosis tools

-scope to monitor crank and cam sensors

-etc.

Nobody can answer these questions??

I think it has been explained here several times what the Smarty can do. Also what the Smarty can do in the future, we will only know in time. This is a new product and it takes time. Go back and read what the programs that are on the Smarty and they will tell you what it can do.

2001 Same year model as my 2 trucks. Did just get thru talking to him and he was all excited. Would not shut up about how much better his truck ran. He was happy to say the least... . Now I got to get his truck back and put his stock SW back in it so I can play with the Smarty some more myself.

What do you want to bet his number will be disconected shortly? LOL :D :D I bet he hates it when you yank the program back to stock.
