A quick Update

Your response to Smarty has been over helming! We have collected

many more pre orders than what we would have ever believed

possible!

Not in our wildest dreams... . THANK YOU!

The beta testing is under progress. Other than a small bug in the

DTC reader which of course has been corrected, not much to report

here.

The enclosures and keyboards are in the works as we speak and will

be delivered on Friday 01/20. We will already begin to assemble the

Smarty's on Saturday. Full steam ahead!

Yet, we have to ask you for a little more patience. We will test every

single Smarty individually. We want to test the quality in each and

every aspect, down to the smallest part. That will take it's time.

Please be patient, by the end of the next week it should be all said

and done.

One more time, THANK YOU!

Marco: We waited this long for this device another week is insignificant I personally would like to wait to receive my unit after all the bugs have been worked out. Then again look at MS Windows my damn system crashed once a week. Maybe you can take a look at Bill's system when you get smarty all sorted out...

A quick one liner,
I'm sure no one has asked this yet so I will confidently be the first and go on and use the tread space.

How does the tire size/speedo function work? Do you input your generic size or revolutions per mile or guess at the error and correct manually?

Go to Marco's site... . http://www.madselectronics.com/download.html and download the users manual and I believe it will tell you starting on page 12 about the tire size info you need.

Torque #'s, I was WRONG!

Gang,

I'm finally able to get back to you.

The most important thing first.

The X2 torque numbers @ 2K Rpm I was bragging about is completely wrong!

OOOOPS, sorry!

Please don't ask me now how I've come up with that number! I don't know!!! Watching them dyno sheets again, I don't know where I've read those numbers... :{ Did I consider the Hp line instead of the torque for the stock engine? Dunno, I really dunno what's been going on in my brain.

Even in the worst scenario the engine with stock software produced 360 Ftlbs

@ 2K ( average is 460-470 ) while the CaTCHER softwares are up to 620.

I've musta have had a brainfart! Stupid me... :-{}

Can you forgive me? Pleeeze... . :D

You need to type in the tire hight in inches, voila.

Yet, I've found the ABS to be not very accurate at best.

My tires are 33" but I have to set the ABS to 32" in order to get an close to reality speedo reading. At 60 Mph it's perfect, at 110 it still reads 4-6 Mph faster than the real speed. I've checked the speed many times with my GPS. I think at the end to get an accurate speedo checking with a GPS is the only way to go.

We waited this long for this device another week is insignificant I personally would like to wait to receive my unit after all the bugs have been worked out.

Bugs? We are VERY confident that there are no more bugs! Otherwise we would not release to the public. The point is a different one.

This is the first real production batch for Smarty. All the beta units have been hand build. I've had all the time I've wanted to test each beta.

There are several parts in Smarty that are custom build to our specs and the components are no longer hand soldered by Marco. What we will do in the real world is to check the QUALITY of the hardware from the different suppliers. Is everything within TIGHT specs? How tight???

The real question is if Smarty as a finished product is as good as we have designed it. Should we find any quality problem, no matter how small it might be, we will delay the delivery and get that part done again. Till it fits our requirements... . Quality comes first in my book.

I'm confident that everything is a OK, we did not use cheapos for anything.

Yet, before I release the product to the public I have to see with MY eyes if I like what I got. All the suppliers and people who work with me know that I'm terrific. 100 % is a OK, 99. 9% can do sometimes, 99. 8% does never work for me.

Marco

That sounds good but I have a 3rd gen. I'll have to wait a bit longer. I start racing next week and will know what my set up is doing without the Smarty. I hope to dyno too. It will be fun when I can get my hands on A smarty. I need more timing.

Third gen.

Ops, yes, I guess I should give you some update about the third gens too.

Right now I'm working on the "footprint" that an update leaves in the ECM.

A little more complicated than the second gen but looks promising.

Timing? A no brainer... ;)

Marco

How about altering injection events(eliminate 3rd event on the 600's)? would there be any improvement with changing the injection events on the 555's?

Bugs?

As far as I can tell, my beta unit is bug free & perfect. The first thing I did was run the DTC feature. I found two old codes & cleared them. I've run programs 1,3,5,7 & 9 as well as the stock program. Man that one seems flat. My hands down favorite is #9. Since I had already been running a CaTCHER for over a year, I'm plenty used to the quick throttle response. Of course, opinions will vary :-{} The good thing is, with Smarty we have choices. Now, most every one can be happy :D This week I'm going to do all my daily driving on #1 to see how that does with milage.

I'm in for one too :) ,probable going to move up to the mach 4's as well from Bob and when i'm towing turn the Smarty to a lower setting. Does anyone see any problems going this way(see sig,got the upgraded turboB1-2tow and all support mods),kind of want the best of both worlds i guess---run the 4,s /full smarty#9 empty and then when on holidays with the TT find a setting that will work loaded or turned off. Should i maybe not go with the 4,s and go with something a little smaller, maybe 2's or 2. 5's.  Reguards-- your opinions/ideas are greatly valued. DW :D :D :D

Don't try to talk yourself out of more power  4's are plenty towable with the right turbo, you should be fine.

Thanks for the vote of confidence :D ,just a little worried when towing,i really like the fact that with the Smarty i will have a choice of different settings if they do run too warm. I have tried a comp, but not really interesed in tapping a pump wire again and enjoy my catcher very much, just want some more options, beside if and when my wife ever has too drive it i can turn down the power so she doesn't bag the hell out of it.

this has probably already been asked 100 times, but when can we expect to have them in hand? Im on the pre-order list and currently do not have a catcher.

Thanks

Earlier in the thread I believe I read that Catcher owners will have the first units at a special price. After their orders are filled, then all the others will get theirs.

Marco,

I know many of us are waiting patiently... . ya right :-laf . How do we know that we made the pre-order list or are you going to contact the original catcher people first on this... I did send a e-mail in but have not recieved any confirmation back. Thanks in advance.
