hey guys,if yall were stacking the smarty with the TST would yall download the smarty with the timming on or off, which way makes more power,it seems like the TST runs better with the timing turned on more then off, what do yall think?

i dont have any experience with the TST yet but from what i have gathered is to put the smarty on the program of your choosing and then use the adjustible timing feture with the updated TST. The TST will provide you with more than enough timing in my perspective. Correct me is im wrong fellow TDR members

I dont have a whole lot of experience with it either,I know from my tst it definately runs stronger if the timing is set on 9 to 12

I use the smarty with timing settings and turn the TST timing to 0. I tried the smarty without timing and I got rattle with the TST at 6 degrees timing.

I've run the SMARTY programs 3,5, and 9 (all with timing), and run TST on anything from 1/1 to 7/7, and never experienced any timing rattle (I have the old TST 49 without the adjustable timing feature). I dose it heavy with Power Service (increases cetane)... don't know if this has an effect or not. --Eric

Well with the TST timing option you will just have to experiment to find the best combination for your specific truck. They all seem to be different. I have tried both Smarty with timing and TST timing 3* or 6*; Smarty no timing and TST timing 12* or 15*; I am not sure which way is better on mine, but I settled on Smarty with no timing and TST timing 12* Auto for now. I really do not get excessive timing rattle with either combo like some do.

Im in the same boat, standard non adj. TST usually 5/5 ez one to three, and smarty on 5 (90 with timing). Works great for me I think the 03-04. 5's were more suseptible to the hard timing rattle. Also all original aggresive programming on the TST and Smarty.
