Was running my Smarty tnt on sw2 with timing on 3. I was getting a lot of what I believe was timing rattle. Set the timing to 2 and the rattle went away but it takes a lot more pedal to get the same amount of power and acceleration now and it's even more noticeable when towing. Any suggestions for how to get my power back without the rattle or can I run it with the rattle without hurting anything?
 
Just changing timing one level shouldn't really make a noticeable difference in power. And if IRC, 2 has more timing than 3 (it might have changed, I haven't use a smarty in a while). You may be hearing timing rattle and I won't recommend running it with enough timing to rattle (especially not towing). That was one of my issues with the smarty; I don't like the timing curve.
 
With Revo you can overcome the default timing with setting it how you want.


timeless. . are you towing on TNT with a stock turbo? what is the EZ set to?
 
Just my . 02, but I would drop off of TNT for towing, it's not setup for that at all. I bet the rattle is from your EZ.

Revo SW5 TM2 TQ2 RP1 is how I would tow with a stock turbo, the base tune will work a lot better for you. TNT is not designed for the resistance of a trailer on the motor. There is more going on that what gauges can tell you.
 
I agree with AH64ID. Try the std REVO sw.



I tow with SW3 (TQ2, TM3, RP1) and I have no timing rattle or smoke. I can get my EGTs to 1300F on a big grade if I keep my foot buried (boost is approx 30psi with foot buried), but most large grades, the EGT is 1200F with approx 26psi boost in 3rd gear (approx 60+ mph)



With my transmission (low stall 3x TC), my EGTs are now 500F at idle in DRIVE !! Put it in NEUTRAL and the EGTs drop to 200F...
