Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Smarty Timing

How do you know if your only adding fuel instead of timing on a Smarty box. . All we want to do with the Smarty is add fuel and let the Edge box do all the timing. There has been issues with this Smarty and after 3 or 4 phone messages and about the same amount of emails and pm's... neither Bob or Marco has responded. . Kinda like to know for sure but cant get them to respond. Yes I know the settings will tell you that your only adding fuel or fuel and timing. But the way this Smarty has been doing or has done in the past. . how can you tell for sure. .

Use SW 0-2-4-6-8 only if you are stacking with a timing box (EZ).

The truck is running a hot juice... As long as Edge set no higher than 5... all the levels on the smarty work fine. When the Edge is set on level 6... it does not matter what setting you use on the smarty you get a dead pedal on moderate throttle. You lift a little on the throttle pedal it comes back. The Edge box has been sent back to them for a go thru... it checked out just fine. Nothing wrong with the injector pump. because the truck runs strong if the Edge is kept off of level 6.

Just want to know how do you tell if the smarty is working correctly... Dont get any response from the vendor... so that is the reason I started this thread. .

What if the Smarty is set to stock?? You state that if the Edge is kept off of level 6(presumably hot unlock) that you can run any Smarty software...

i think he was asking how the truck behaves with the Smarty out of the loop. put the stock software in the ECM and see what the truck does with the Edge. maybe you can find another Smarty in your neck of the woods to try.

I understand... but when trying to diagnose a problem it seems prudent to eliminate the particular mod you think is the issue and find out if removing that item makes the problem go away.

Understand that... and the truck owner will be doing some more testing. I guess what gets me as the amount of calls,emails and pm's to Bob and have not gotten anything back from him or even Marco.

When the problem started the truck was running a stock VP44 so I thought well maybe its the pump having problems. . but now after we have done countless hours of work to the truck which includes a HRVP44 and the problem still rears its ugly head... its got to be something else...

Sorry I deleted the above post which is supposed to be just before the one quoted above.

My point was that I am Very Disappointed in the lack of response, and lack of updates for less low end fueling that we were told were coming for the 2nd gens. It never happened.
