What setting are you guys running on stock, trucks. On the Mads website, it says mild torque management is standard on the smarty, I put the stock torque management software when I did the update.

What kind of power differences have you guys noticed between the mild and moderate TQ settings? I have only run the mild TQ settings, but since I've upgraded my transmission I've been thinking about trying the moderate program. I only do normal daily driving, no power launches, or such. I'm interested in how the transmission will react.

The difference between mild and moderate is on the moderate and wild is the throttle response is so much faster, and it feels like theres more power which i don't know if there is, but maybe more torque. What i would say is, the less torque managegment (like moderate and wild) there is the more fuel put on at a lower rpm and less throttle input for that fuel.

Also i have moderate loaded right now and it makes it do that 1-2-2-1 shift at light throttle input, which i don't like, it shifts awsome if u put it in tow haul though.

If you have to do a lot of stop-n-go low speed driving, the moderate TQ management above SW2 is hard to get used to. Give it enough throttle to stop the shuttle shift and your either smoking the guy next to you or doing 45 in a heart beat. Try to keep the speed and the smoke down and it can't make up its mind what gear it wants. Its great when you can roll at least half throttle to start off and go but thats only cuz it flashes the stall speed pretty good. Trans still doesn't like it but it will be much happier. :)

Well, I’ve been running the moderate torque program; sw#5, for a few hours and the power definitely comes on stronger. I’m almost afraid to “Gun it” hard because it feels so much stronger. My shifts are not as pronounced as they were running the mild program, but still much firmer than my stock transmission shifted. I have not experienced any of the 1-2-2-1-1-2 shifting. That problem went away when I upgraded my transmission. I’m not sure I like the new program. I like the power, but to much throttle and the truck just takes off. I have to be much more cautious and mindful driving in traffic. I guess once you learn the throttle it’s not an issue.

I'm running Wild #9 and my clutch is toast... just hoping it will hang in there another week or two until the SB DD gets here! --Eric

MSTRAIN,

How does your truck run on the stock torque management software? What levels have you tried and how do they differ from the software the truck came with?

J

First, are there any documented gains in HP and Torque from using the different levels (i. e. Dyno charts)? Anyone in my area of Southeast PA/Delaware with a Dyno that wants to run some tests (possibly on both a Gen 3 (mine) and a Gen 2 (buddy's) ???

I ran Mild Torque on SW 3 and 5 (Stock Turbo, Injectors, and Clutch). SW# 5 is so unbelievable ... the power is amazing yet scary because I don't want to blow anything out. Just loaded the Moderate and am going to try both SW3 and 5 again just to see here in a bit. I'll post later with my thoughts.

When MADS labeled the horse power settings they did it on the conservative side. The actual horsepower is higher than stated.
