Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) smarty worth the money?

What kind of improvements can be expected(see sig)?I see where the turbo spool up is suppose to be better. Would it help with the lag my phat shaft has off the line truck is a 5speed ?I have a comp now and see that it does not seem to be the best stack with the smarty because your not using the smarty to its full potential. Contact Bob Wagnar, he seems willing to set up test runs.



If you are used to the Edge Comp, I am unsure. PaulB, who drag races his truck and runs the Comp, does not use the Smarty because he prefers a different power band set up and because his truck runs the 1/4 so consistently. In my case I love the Smarty because it gives my truck that day to day zip.



From what I can gather, the Smarty is more of a low RPM set-up while the Comp is better on top. Many people say that you would actually lose a few top end Hp. You can always run both at the same time using a no timing SW and get the best of both worlds.



If you have to pass emissions the Smarty has a 50% power SW.



If you don't already have a DTC reader the Smarty performs that function as well. As well as tire size reprograming.



Its only money... .

I was fairly skeptical at first as well but after buying it all I can say is it was under rated! way more noticable with another box but unbeleiveable.

There has to be someone in your area that would let you test one. I think it is worth every penny, I let a buddy use mine he is saving for his own now... . George

Lots of improvements! Yes, lag will be greatly reduced or eliminated. My recommendation is buy the Smarty & install SW #9, turn off the Edge. If you like the bottom end Smarty gives you I would highly recommend buying a TST to provide the top end.

Blacksheep,that was my next question it looked to me that most people liked stacking the tst box with the smarty instead off the comp. If any one knows any one in my area that has one i would sure like to try it before i buy one. Thanks Jason
