I am attempting too gather results/settings for the Smarty SO3, without

other power adders installed .

I have upgraded Smarty to the latest level ( user adjustable ).

I have tried several settings for " Economy " and " Towing" ( driving loaded ).

My results to date have been less than successful ( my fault).

Would anyone care to share there settings/results?

( noting the " no other perf options, exhaust excluded )

I need some base line starting points for:

Economy: Without sensitive Throttle .

Driving with 3. 5K load:

Thanks. .

Well, I have no other power "boxes" added but do have higher flow injectors. So I'll just throw this out here and you can decide if it is relevant or not.

For my liking, I've always wanted to avoid the "touchy throttle" syndrome. With that said, I like stock software for its mellower response, but do want to be able to advance timing a small bit to lower egt's and increase efficiency.

This 1st version of "Revo" series software allows the closest to my wants that I like, mainly because there are no external electrical connections or added boxes to fail, or introduce a failure. That is a BIG plus. It is about the best code scanner for the overall buck, and it's almost a totally "stealth" mod.

With SW#1 (the original fuel mileage focused SW) it gives similar low throttle response as stock, with a nice ramp up and still allows the added (approx 35-50 HP) power gain of added timing boxes like an EZ, Power Puck, VA, etc. , but "only" when you actually want it.

I prefer this milder SW#1, with stock Torque Mgmt & Duration settings, and only play with the Timing settings until I found about the best egt & performance with the least rattle & timing hammer which is about #3 for my non-NO, ETC early 6-speed truck (unloaded), and #2 for pulling heavy (but on #2 you get a bit more turbo lag and smoke before spoolup if you're quick on the go pedal, vs #3 which is quicker spooling and pretty clean running). #4 starts introducing some hints of timing hammer and the timing rattle noise starts appearing, but not excessively yet, and gives very quick spoolup, its a touch more aggressive than I prefer, so like #3 for daily driving. It seems to be the sweet spot for this rig.

Don't know if that is the answer you were looking for but I do recommend the REVO software, and I've been one of the more critical users in the past. This is nice software, I would love to see it taken one step further on the mild side someday, but this version is again, very adjustable and does give something for everybody as claimed - JMHO.

I use SW1 with default TQ+duration and Timing #4 for normal daily driving. Towing I found the same as above with Timing #2 to be the ticket.

My truck isn't stock. The only real performance mod, besides Smarty, is 90hp injectors. Larger diameter exhaust pipes don't count as power adders.

I don't know what the default settings mean, but I assume they're default CaTCHER settings. Why use the default when you have all the choices?

Touchy throttle is something I equate to higher Torque levels.
Software levels I'm still not clear about, although it does seem like more fuel is delivered on the higher settings. I imagine the increase is in the 50-65hp range since that's about all any non-wire tap boxes can claim.

I have experimented with around 30-40 different Revo combinations and settled on 2 for regular driving and 2 for special occasions. My only complaint with the original Smarty S03 was too much smoke at launch (see 90hp injectors). I have low tolerance for smoke. Revo really gives all the adjustment one can ask for within the limits of the VP44.

Favorites in order:
#1 - SW8, TQ2, TM3, D1 (most power/ least smoke)
#2 - SW1, TQ6, TM3, D1 (best throttle response while still minimizing smoke, less roll-on power)
#3 - SW3, TQ2, TM2, D1 (towing) (not enough experience towing with Revo, may consider 1 number higher on TQ & TM)
#4 - SW1, TQ1, TM4, D1 (economy)

Legend:
SW - Software level
TQ - Torque
TM - Timing
D - Duration

I can't really say with stock injectors. But to clarify I have 150 Hp injectors. I have goofed with many REVO configurations and my thoughts.

Currently:

SW3 TQ5 TM2 D4

My first reason is because I like a quieter engine, so I don't like allot of timing. I can run at 2300 RPM all day with out the feeling of the engine coming through the firewall.

For the other two it depends on where I like to shift, which for me is typically up around 2500 RPM. Especially, if I am towing which helps me make the dreaded 3rd to 4th shift. These options really help the RPM lift in the 2000 - 2500 RPM range for me. The engine just pulls right through this range with little effort. Going below TQ3 I seem to lose this effect, and while the RPM still comes up it often seems more like a struggle to get there. Rather than it just wants to go there.

So I am suggesting that if you like to shift in this RPM band you might want to give something like it a try. I don't think what SW number matters once you start altering all the options.
