Alright so after a short trip back from Idaho. Maybe 2200 miles orund trip by the time I got home. I have the smell of oil coming from my truck after it is run with any good throttle romps. I had my oil changed before I left to come home, and I have not seen any leaks. I checked around the head to see if I might have a leaking gasket. My turbo spools slower and does not seem to boost as much, but I am not sure if that has to do with the same problem. Does anyone think mybe my turbo has finally said good bye after running Crazy Larry settings on it for 48,000 miles? Or could it be something else?

What oil did they use? IF it was Rotella, you're gonna get that "big rig" smell for about 600-1000 miles or so like Nightram stated above. IF not Rotella, you might want to get a good light and get under there and see if you got a leak somewhere.....

My 4x4 smelled like hot oil at about 96K. It turned out to be that the dust cover on the front drive shaft had shredded. It through grease on the exhaust.

It was Delron 15/40. I have not seen any big leaks at all. I do not even see oil seapage anywhere. This is the first time I have had this problem. I need to try to get it figured out before "Mopars at the Strip"

My truck smelled like oil fumes, untill my 3rd or 4th oil change, no more smell, and i've used Rotella since new.

This is the first time it has ever happened. Today also, my exhaust started to sound like it is sick. Almost like a mis-fire but like it is "puffing" air instead of pushing it out. I am kind of lost on this? Maybe Valves, Injectors... ???

Mine always stinks after changing the oil. I changed it last month and drove 250 miles to Yuma pulling a tractor. My Dad's wife tells me later "Your Dad said to tell you that you have a 'fresh oil' smell coming from your truck". He drives a PowerStroke, so I told her that the Cummins engines make so much power they have to have an external oiling device built into them to keep the driveshafts lubed so they don't freeze up and sheer off. No idea how that would even work, but it sounded good and I was tired.

She just looked at me funny ;) and nodded. I don't know what she told my Dad, but I can picture him trying to research the external oilers on the internet.

I run Rotella and it did the same thing on my Duramax when I changed it. Sounds like you may have another problem though.
