I've had this problem with my last car. Dam cat was jumping on the hood, and marking the windshield as his "territory".
I used a Marlin lever action, and 22 shorts. Quite effective. Very quiet too.
This didnt kill him. Too weak of a cartridge. It dam for sure made him remember DONT GO THERE!!!
This might not be an option for you if you have neighbors close to you.

Thanks Patriot... ...
I,ve got a 7MM Mag for these purposes, but there are no cats around. This smell is very short term and seems to be related to the Airco. So if you've got any other ideas???

Thanks EMD, I don't think this is as simple as that... ... Someone e-mailed me that D/C has a tsb on this issue and it is covered under 3/36 warranty. It's "Mold Spores" on the evaporator.

A good home remedy is to spray Lysol into the cowling air intake. This will kill mold ect. the stuff DC uses is basically the same.

Had the same problem last summer when first starting the truck. I used a large can of Lysol, spraying it in the windshield cowling before and after each trip.
Smell still there. I read a post from the TDR that suggested turning the air selection switch to VENT. Run in this position for several miles (before your destination)to dry the evaporator out. Since doing this I haven't smelled the musty smell.

I extended the drain tube from the air conditioning condenser. It solved the cat pee smell. It's located behind the AC expansion tank on the passenger firewall and I used a 5/8 elbo, a hose clamp, and 2 feet of 5/8 tubing and ty wraped the end of the tube to the frame.
By extending the tube into the slip stream you create a veturi effect and draw the condensate from the condenser and eliminate the smell.

Adding to what's been said, Try turning the A/C off a few minutes before your destination. Condensation builds up inside the duct work and creates mold. By allowing just the fan to run for a few minutes, it removes quite a bit of it. Works for me.

Thanks for all the input guys! It's appreciated. I think I'll go with Paul's solution... ... Being a design engineer myself, it seems to me that introducing a negative pressure in the drain tube is a solid technical solution to stagnant water in the evaporator. I'll let you know what happens...
In the mean time it's "Bombs" away with Linex bed liner and Grizzly "Double Bend" nerf bars.

Another solution is to use Recirc over regular AC. Recirc has a lot of advantages in that it does not constantly reintroduce hot outside air into the system (less work for the compressor, condenser, and evaporator), thus reducing the engine load and saving a bit of fuel. Recirc also does not have the moisture problems that normal AC does, since it is using the already-dehumidified cool air. Also, Recirc AC cuts down on the system taking in diesel fumes from the engine compartment if you have passengers sensitive to that.

At least once a month in spring and summer, I "fog" the interior with Lysol (the Crisp Linen scent is terrific), and allow the AC to suck it in through the air return ducts for a few minutes before shutting down. makes everything smell fresh in the interior, and keeps an amount of the antibacterial ingredients in the ductwork until I come back.

I'm with what deezal man said, but I put it on vent and the fan on high about a mile from the house.
I've also put citrus solvent down the cowling. (love that smell!)

Well, if all else fails you could tap into the smoke pipe, say 1/4 NPT fitting and pipe it directly into the A/C ducting. Probably kill all the mold/fungus/bacteria and make a great air freshener to boot #ad

This idea should not be tried at home, only by professionals on a closed course...
