My friend has had his 2002 VW Passat for about 6 months. I have rarely seen anyone spend so much time washing and careing for a car. I said a "car", not a Dodge CTD.

The only problem he is having is the leather seats. THEY SMELL. It is a VERY rich leather smell, not mold/mildew or rot. When he opens the windows, you can smell it almost 10 to 15 feet away. Inside the car it is overpowering. Because of where he lives & works he can not air out the car very often.

He asked me what he should do to fix this smell. As I have never had leather seats, I am hoping someone here can suggest a cure.

Thanks,

simon

Place a box of baking soda in the floor in a zip lock bag.

Open the bag when parked for a long time, close the bag before driving.

thanks

Hey, good idea. I should try that in my truck. It's gotta to be better than those little pine tree things.
