What are the adjustments to take the smoke out at idle. Don't have a tach yet, but seems to idle a little fast also.

If your timing is right (1. 4-1. 5mm lift @ #1 TDC), valves adjusted properly (. 010" intake/ . 020" exh), and fuel flow not restricted (filter, lift pump, injector pump), you shouldnt have any smoke at idle. What color is it, how warm (coolant temp) when you notice the smoke? Some greyish/ bluish smoke at cold idle is normal; white smoke is normally retarded timing or an injector malfunction; grey/black smoke is an injector or advanced timing (WAY too far). we need more details to do a proper long distance diagnosis.

If your transmission doenst CLUNK real hard when you change gears, your idle is most likely ok.

I have the greyish/blue smoke at start and it never goes all the away, It does'nt use any oil between changes just acts like it's running rich at idle. you can see I have put a 4 inch exhaust and a K&N in to try to get more air in, Thanks for the replys

Forgot, Hav'nt figured out how to check timing yet so can't help there, probably need to run it to one of the veterans in the congragation and get some preaching

I believe that is attrrition for your sins.

Timing can have a big effect on it, either way has similar effects. How many miles on it? If you are near/ over 150K, it is time to get the injectors checked out.

same problem...still

I'm still having that same problem as Jonesy is having. SMokes at idle, much more when I put it in gear and have my foot on the brake. With the rebuilt pump, that hasn't changed. And I only have the stock injectors

There is also a smoke adjustment on the top of the pump - real easy but you need a torex wrench. It is under a cover that pops out with a screwdriver. My truck smokes the same, but I left it as I use it to get rid of the neighbors when they hang out in their driverway and talk, and have their bass way to high, and the car telling them that their key is in the ignition. I love the smell of the smoke so it does not bother me. But if the timing is okay (advanced will cause the same thing) than you can usually fix it with the smoke adjust. You may have the fuel adjustment screw too high, a little turn counter-clockwise on it may fix the smoke, and should fix the idle too, if that is the prob.
