The left end of that adapter is threaded... shouldn't it screw directly into the pump eliminating the need for a mount to the block, etc?

I will get another opinion on the injectors... since the first shop back in Nov. tested them around 262-275 bar and yesterday they tested at 222-230 bar.

But what if the second shop tests them at 222-230... and they really did drop all that psi in 7,000 miles... should I have them reshimmed again, returned to Cummins for a refund, ???

About the timing... is the strong smell and bluish smoke indicative of retarted or advanced or is it too hard to tell???

Daniel put the pump on and since then I removed it once to R/R the tappet cover gasket and had it turned up and adjusted at that time... The shop had it pinned, I removed the washer, turned the shaft so the keyway would line up to the 1 o'clock position of the motor, and barred the motor so it would line up better, and tightened up the pump. I thought this was the procedure that GL told me to use, but maybe I missed a step???

I solved the problem by setting the IP timing correctly. I think the pump gear jumped a tooth because I measured it with a dial indicator at 2. 5 mm - way too much for just about any truck, even modified. Stock is 1. 25 mm & most suggest running 1. 4 mm-1. 7 mm. HTH,
