i've searched for hours and can't really seem to find what i'm looking for. I'm looking for a pic or pics of the amount of smoke dd2's put out without a box in a HO. i'm trying to get an idea of what to deal with if i get them.

I suppose I could take a pic for you, but there's no reason to.

I have the DD2s. With my EZ disconnected there's almost NO SMOKE AT ALL. Keep in mind this is with a 6-speed (HO) at 6000 feet elevation.

With the EZ, I can get some smoke, even on the least aggressive setting. On the most aggressive setting, I can smoke enough to offend someone.

Keep in mind that my high altitude would make my truck smoke a lot more than a comparable truck at lower altitude.

If you're considering just the DD2 injectors and a boost fooler, it's a VERY clean combination with very little (if any) smoke.

I have a ETC (non HO) with an EZ that I just added DD II's to. I had to adjust the EZ to the least aggressive setting to control smoke. I live at Sea-Level if that helps.

Smoke is definately controllable with some RFF control (right foot factor)... Power is great I should mention! If you get a little boost up prior to mashing the "Go Peddle" you will get little to no smoke.

BTW- if smoke is a huge concern for you, I would encourage you to look at the EDM injectors. With the EDMs, you can run an 85 hp injector that smokes about like a 40hp RV275 injector. Great mileage, tq, and mpg. Not cheap, but worth it in the long run if you're keeping the truck a while.

I've got a 01 HO and the smoke with my box off is very little when I'm running empty, I can a little smoke from them if I get on it when pulling at low boost. I also second what Hohn says about the edms.

I don't have any pics either, but with my tst off, smoke is definately above stock, but not obnoxious, even at WOT. You'll be real happy with the power increase of the DDIIs. Exhaust temps are still controllable to. TST on 9, lots of go pedal = lots of smoke = lots of power..... :D

With my EZ's data cable unplugged (i. e. , in the boost fooler mode), smoke is minimal, and EGT's are great - you would need a boost fooler and elbow on a stock truck to get these results. As others have said, with the EZ plugged in (even on position #2), I can lay a pretty good cloud of off-boost smoke, especially pulling our 5th wheel. With the EZ, one can drive around the smoke (just light-foot it until the turbo starts spooling), but you've got to watch what you're doing.

EGT Questions...

Just pulled our 5vr for the 1st time since the 2's, 4" exhaust, & the AFE PG7. It shot to 1100 on the EGT's pretty damn fast on acceleration. Are you guys seeing 1100 on the EGT's pretty damn fast on acceleration? Kinda caught me off guard! 5vr weight is #8500.

I knew there would be more heat, & maybe I'm not realizing that my speed is coming on faster but damn, my comfort level is around 1100-1150 & I find myself having to back out of it sooner than with stock injectors.

Considering selling the II's & moving down in size to 275's or DD1's. Going for a big pull this weekend so that will be the true test... Any thoughts?

Clay

Clay. that seems very odd. I pulled last year with DD3's and crested snoqualmie in overdrive at 70 with zero egt problems

my 5er is 30ft and 10k+

Clay,

I've seen 1225-1250 degF towing our 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel. I guess our tolerance levels differ since my truck would hit 1300 degF stock, so I don't worry too much at 1250 degF. That's about my limit, though.
