Jay- I know its hard to click on my profile to find all the stats, but just to make it easy for you its a 2001 automatic transmission 3/4 ton dodge ram cummins diesel 4x4, BD POWER race box, AFE stage 1 filter, 5" straight exhaust. The rest is stock, trans turbo etc...

Ive always wanted a CTD (cummins turbo diesel) since I got my first 89 D250 4x4 318 auto, then I bought a 95 1500 4x4 360 auto. then had a girl pull out infront of me on the 3rd of july and totaled the 95 ram. So I got a excellent deal on a 01 CTD! and Ive always thought that a diesel that smokes is just awesome even as a young buck. Well now its my chance to have that truck that I wanted to have... a diesel that smokes. Yeah with the box on it smokes OK but not as much as Id like it to. Anyways I didnt ask of opinions on why I wanted the truck to smoke I asked for opinions on "how to smoke" ;)

DM- your truck is bad***** Gen 1's around here (lower central michigan) are hard to come by! they are out there but the darn old farmers wont let them go!! My bud just bought a 98 12V (pics under "just stacked") and his smokes pretty good so of course I have to out do him! (slight reason for wanting more smoke)

I don't know why you are taking an attitude with me. I don't remember saying anything that would have caused it. Don't ask us to answer your questions if it kills you to be asked some questions in return, like it is an auto or a manual. There are other people on here that are a lot more knowledable than I am that may know how to make a truck smoke alot without needing to upgrade you transmisson, but I think that to make big smoke, you have to make more power. Which will require a transmisson upgrade. Which will cost you more since it is an auto. Unless you burn some tires in the bed of your truck like RonA said. :-laf

Almost any honed injector over 120hp or so will do the trick. Bullydog's are probably the best for this-- very slobbery.

Consider this my token reminder that smoke is inefficiency, and soot is very abrasive.

Sorry Jay if I lashed out on you, I just dont like to beat around the bush when Im asking my questions to anyone. The burning tire idea is nice and all but Id like it to come out the tail pipe. Im almost considering trashing the CTD and using the gmc brigadier with a truck box for a ride, she smokes good!!!!! CAT3208 power, 75' boom& dual bucket truck 15,000# winch on the boom. BUT its a GMC so thats not going to work very well with a ram box.

Cat 3208 in a Brigadier... ... must be a newer one. Nice looking trucks, kind of a dog with the Detroit in the older models though.

Do you have any specs of the Detroit engine in that truck? Is it a 6V-53? What type of injection and fuel system would that have?

Thanks
