Good Day all. Is it ok for the 24v to smoke like crazy? And how high should I let the EGT get to before I have to back off? Mine is behind the turbo and when pulling I will see 800-1000. I have a 6spd and the edge chip with 4inch pipe.

Thanks Keith :)

You may have a ripped intercooler boot, making it smoke and the egt's rise. Do a pressure check from the turbo to the manifold to check for leaks. It would be the first place I checked.

boost gauge???

KDoerr, you didn't happen to mention if you have a boost gauge on your rig?? If so what kind of numbers are you seeing on that?? Smoke as we know it is caused from rich fuel to air mixture aka no or low boost going into the engine. My boost tops out at 31psi with 275 injectors and comp box(pump wire not tapped). Myself, I totaly enjoy seeing a puff of black smoke looking in my mirror as I throttle to the next gear, but after boost builds it is gone. Hope you find your problem and it isn't major. Good luck. :)

No I don't have a boost gage yet but hoping soon. I get all the smoke at low rpm. around 1100 to 1500 rpm it smokes like crazy. and when pulling the EGT is around 800 to 900 and thats after turbo.

Thanks Keith

smoke

big cam III,,,, yes I know I have kicked myself in the a&& many times already for not going with bigger sticks,, but hey I have a set of stock injector bodies sitting around now for maybe throwing a set of nozzles on them... hummm, what to do what to do. I do like the 275's though... they are sweet for the $$$$$$ :-laf :-laf

Smoke looks cool... and smells kinda neat. Back in the good-ol-dayz of truckin, mashing on it while grabbing another gear and watching the cloud of smoke meant something. Wow... . look at all that power. Been there, done that. The 3408DI in my 78 Pete could and would turn day into night while setting you back into the seat. Oh, and eat up drive tires. Fuel was about $1. 50 a gallon cheaper back then. It didnt hurt as much. I was just a kid with a large car. But age , wisdom and many miles has tought me that black smoke means un-burned fuel. Nothing but money flowing out your exhaust... I sure miss them days :D

Hey Thanks for the help But I think I found the problem. The MAP sensor is bad. . So tomorrow i'm putting a new one in and see. I was getting 27-30 L/ 100Km. Can you say Krap :)
