I have a 05 2500 with a aFe PG7 and TT for mods (so far). Mileage is 15,000 and under light and moderate acceleration the truck puffs out a decent amount of smoke even after the turbo catches up and continues to do this until I have reached the cruise speed. But you can only see the smoke at night through the headlight beams of the car behind you. During the day the smoke cannot be seen. So Im wondering if the smoke is a light color like white or a blue making it hard to see in the daylight hours. I have cleaned the air filter, and changed the fuel filter as well to see if that changed anything but it did not. I actually like the smoke myself, just want to be sure its normal. The truck does not smoke at start up or sound as if it has a leaky injector I just want to see if others are having the same issues. Thanks for you replies. (Maybe an Xzillarator Quad Race Box is the cure? ;) ) EDIT: Mileage is 18 if I drive like a maniac and 21 if I dont, 48RE for the trans.

It's normal. My dads stock 04. 5 is the same way. I can also see a haze at night from my 12valve that isn't there during the day. Like I said, no big deal, just a normal thing.

yeah I get it also, its more noticable when I havent "put my foot into it" for a couple of days. Therefore I recommend your foot on the floor at least once a day. :D . That is pretty awesome milage I might add, another sign that all is well with your rig.

what you see at night is mostly steam the new cummins doun't smoke that much. but put a chip on it like the edge jucie and additude it will smoke for sure and you can see it in the day

all diesel engines smoke, and it is normal. the lights at night make it easier to see the smoke, but if you were to take a paper dust mask and pop it over the tail pipe and drive around a bit, it will be black too...

I've always assumed it's soot buildup in the exhaust plumbing. A couple hard runs blows a lot of it out and minimizes the amount of smoke I see at night.
