I have a problem with the passenger side rear disc brakes. Certain times when I tow my boat, or just drive unloaded, my brakes smoke. Only the pass. side. Truck is an 04 4x4 4dr dually, 42k miles, did pads all the way around about 4 months ago. I don't know what to make of it. (The boat weighs 5,500lbs

Probably the easiest way is to jack up the rear end with the parking brake off and the transmission in neutral (BLOCK THE FRONT WHEELS!) and see if there's any drag on the rear wheels.

I did my brakes tonight, at 73,000 or 75,000 something like that, but noticed the right rear corner was the worst of the four.

intresting... my dually puked the left seal... took dealer three times to fix it CORRECTLY!!... they replaced the seal but not the brake pads as "Chrysler recommends """CLEANING THE PADS WITH BRAKE SOLVENT"""" horse pukky... asked the service manager to show me that in writing... he couldnt so new rear pads I got... my axle leak was slight but enough to make the brakes smoke and stink when in traffic or heavy usage. there was no sign of oil leaking just the smell of burnt pad and burnt gear oil..... can you smell burnt gear oil at all?... being that we both have duallys I am wondering if there is a issue starting to rear its ugly head on these axles!!... just a thought
