Info on upcoming trip to Seattle

4th of July

So I was browsing Home Depot the other day, looking for something else to cook on, and came across this little smoker.

There was 2 versions, charcoal and electric. I wanted to get the charcoal one, mainly because I wanted a alternative to gas BBQ, and I could use this. Also it'll satisfy my daughters desire for making S'mores the right way, next to having a actual campfire.
so I grab the box in the location on the tag and head to checkout. I see it ring up for $56 instead of the tagged $36. I explain that I just realized this was the electric model, and I wanted the charcoal one, and the rack was confusing. They gave it to me for $36. So I took it.
Anyone use these things? Thoughts?
Im trying it out today on some boneless breasts and Hickory chips had laying around.

I have 3 smokers currently (downsizing to two soon) - Propane, Charcoal/wood, and Electric. I love my electric smoker for doing long cooks - esp in winter - really keeps the temperature constant - set it and forget it. Does this one have a programmable temp setting? For pork shoulders (to make pulled pork) or brisket, I will often start the cook in the evening and it will be ready the next day. I have also made baby back ribs, smoked turkey breast, and smoked ham in it as well. I am getting rid of my propane smoker, but keeping my charcoal/wood one (a great deal, by the way, at Sams - it is HUGE but is all in one - https://www.samsclub.com/sams/4in1-...oal-grill/prod16660329.ip?xid=plp:product:1:1).

Congrats on your purchase. Best part is, when there are chores to do on a Sat, just say, no can do, I am "busy" smoking!

That's exactly what happened! It is very consistent, no it's not programmable. It just has a dial/ light plug in cord similar to a hot plate or similar appliance. And I had it right at 200. I had some boneless chicken breasts ready to go one way or other, so I threw them on as a first job. I stoked the chips (comes with a certain size scooper) every hour WHILE I was pressurewashing the other side (front) of the house.
Well it went from being not done to drying out within the 3 and 4th hour. So yes next time I have to keep a closer eye on it!
