I bought my truck a year ago, and never had any problems... until it got cold last fall.

When cold (below 40 degrees) last fall, the truck would bellow white smoke until the egt gauge hit about 200 degrees.

The dealer said that was a-ok, as the diesel does that when cold (this is my very first diesel truck)... .

SO now it is pretty warm (70 degrees0 and the white smoke still bellows on startup, and it runs prety rough until I put it into either reverse or drive... as soon as it is in gear, it smooths out beautifully and all smoke stops...

If this is all normal for a diesel, I guess I can live with it, and maybe I just did not notice the smoke last year..... any advice??? Thanks

BTW... I love this truck!!!

Nope... she seems to run a-ok... no rough idle (except at startup), no hesitation, pulls the 5er fine and mileage is the same 17-18 mpg back and forth to work... . all is the same except for the smoke... it actully filled the garage this morning... . cough cough

TSB 18-037-04 deals with white smoke at start-up, overhead computer accuracy, and bad mileage. Check the TSB out and go get the ECM flash from the dealer.
