I finally got a set of injectors for my truck this last weekend but I have some questions about them. How much should they smoke with my setup(see sig). Right now, at low rpms/ boost /WOT they leave a pretty good trail out my stacks (not necessarily a bad thing :D ). How much boost? so far I have gotten to 24 psi. and the last, anybody else's trip computer gone crazy, According to it my instantaneous mileage has increased 5-6 mpg (21-vs- 16 stock)

thanks;

James

I have DD2's and they did smoke on the upper settings some.

Now that I have a good tight converter they will smoke more.

This is good right?!!!

I think I have intercooler boots leaking leaking as it will only show 27 to 30 lbs boost. I tightened clamps to get it to 30 must need to be tighter.

I have to drive it easy till I get 8-10 lbs boost then I can ask it for power. Otherwise it smokes the right lane out of sight.

Some say I need propane and or the pulse manifold.

Does the BOMBing ever slow down?

BTW, I have a comp box ,89 converter, AFE and pdrhx40 with 4" exhaust.

Do you have a box or at least a boost fooler? If not you will set a code.

My mileage is still good showing a best so far at 22. 2 at 70-75.

I wonder what it will do at 55-60!

This is calculated mileage as the overhead reading is much higher now.

With my Bully Dog III's I can hit 32 boost. 24 seems kind of low, is that under load? At WOT?

Can you drive without any smoke?

If I drive like there is an egg between my foot and the pedal, mine don't smoke.

Sounds like a problem with your PE boost module or perhaps a boost leak. 2's in an ETH give 90+rwhp gain, so you should see at least 30psi.

Were they new or used injectors?

For the record I ran III's for a year without a boost fooler. You will run no more that ~20psi no matter what injectors you have, untill you put in a boost elbow. I didn't install the elbow till I put the comp on. I never set a code, my waste gate kept the boost from building over ~20psi.

inj.

I have not have a chance to put a load behind the truck with the injectors in it. I could get more boost if it was onder load. The injectors are used, but I know the guy and his truck, (an '01 ETH) with around 12000 miles on them. I might have a boost leak, since I have never touched the boots since new. I can drive w/o smoke but what is the fun in that.

thanks

I have some smoke at low rpms / boost, and find that the vehicle behind me now gives me more room, less tailgateing.

I was trying to put together a system without ANY smoke, but like the increased room off the rear bumper to the next vehicle.

If they try to ride my bumper, when we leave a stop light I come down a little harder on the go pedal and smoke them back some, especially if they have their windows down.

Use the smoke for traffic control.

JV, were the injectors the older "black" ones or standard grey? If you bought them used and they were the older black ones, they likely do smoke quite a bit more than our current Stage 2's.

I noticed with my DDII's and an EZ that they don't smoke unless you lay into it pretty good. After about 15-20 lbs. of boost no perceivable smoke.

Being that you live in Alaska, I would not worry much about the smoke: it will be dark there soon enough, you won't see it;)

For driving around town( if you don't want to smoke) ease into the throttle until your making aleast 10psi boost then you can lay into it more. I've found that if when I make anywhere from 18-38 psi under half to wot their is very little to no smoke.

Update

The injectors are supposed to be the "stealth " injectors. I checked the intercooler boots and I might have had a leak, I repositioned and tightened all of them. I disabled the wastegate and now I can hit 34 psi easily. the wastegate is restricted by a little brass "pill" with a small hole in it stuck into the wastegate hose. Obviously it needs a smaller hole in it.
