the barring tool and sp500 are the only special tools, common size wrenches/sockets and a atleast 150# torque wrench are all that's needed otherwise

are there any other tools that I need? I have a barring tool...

I think the pump nut is a 1-3/16". Not in everyone's tool box. Have a breaker bar handy to break it loose.

A dial indicator is not necessary to find TDC using the dropped valve method unless you choose to watch the valve ride the piston. I screw down the exhaust valve rocker arm and rotate the engine to bump up against the valve to find TDC, in which case the indicator is not needed. But, choose the method that you're comfortable with.

I find TDC by looking at the rockers arms on cylinders 1 and 6. I get it close to dead middle where #6 exhaust is almost shut and #6 intake is just starting to open. Then I have someone skosh the engine while I work the timing pin 'til it falls in. At that point I mark the harmonic damper by the tach sensor so I have it marked exactly, then pull the pin and go by the mark for the rest of the procedure.
