Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel problem

While attempting to pull the crankcase sensor out yesterday, I snapped the dipstick tube about 2 inches up from the pan. I guess after 18 years, the plastic tube just goes to hell from the heat.

I was able to order a new one from Cummins and it should be here on Monday, but I haven't taken a stab at removing that last stub of tubing. It has a small spring clamp on it, but the damn thing is as brittle as glass. Does anyone know how the tube is attached? I'm guessing from the spring clamp, that it simply pushes onto a nipple.

Any tips?

Thanks!

I don't have a '99 ESN, just a '98.5 and an '01. If yours is like the '98.5, the plastic fits on a metal tube in the block so removing the old one should be no problem. If it's like the '01 it looks to be one piece. Give me your ESN and I can see what you have.

Thanks Scott,
I was able to order a new tube from Cummins - The part number is stamped on the tube just about 4 inches from the top. It's part number: 394459
It's exactly like the 98.5 diagram. Mine has the small spring clip on it.
