i’m new to def (truck on order), but i’ve been told to buy it in the 2.5 gal jugs from the parts store and not buy any at the pumps.
somebody stated that peak brand was the best, what chain of parts stores sell it and is there any brand to stay away from?

Don't dwell on DEF, buy whatever works for you. If you have reason to question the date, then check it. I never bother because where I buy it, they frequently run out, so I know they're always getting new stuff in.

90% of the time I buy the Wal-Mart Super Tech stuff, $8 for 2.5 gallons. DEF is a simple mixture of water and Urea, as long as the container says it meets the ISO standard, you're good.

If I am doing a lot of towing (crossing state lines etc) I try to buy it at the pump if its convenient. When I'm not towing, I typically only add 2.5 gallons at a time.

Again, just buy whatever is easiest for you, and don't think twice about it.

Thanks. Good to see another adult in the thread. SnoKing

Hey, just joking around a bit here, if you want to a grumpy old man, so be it.

I thanked you for the jug pouring, lets not get too serious about this SnoKing, it is what it is . Its pouring some fluid out of a plastic jug, a few drops on the garage floor or where ever is not a tragedy

I agree, although I don't go to a truck stop for it. I don't use enough to worry much about where to get it. When I know I am going to need some its usually from the local Walmart, although the Home Depot here in Centerville is the cheapest for Peak, and usually the freshest .
