I've been thinking about getting a snow plow for my 2500. Looking for input! Pros and Cons? Let me know your experiences? Plow manufacture and model recomendations? Truck modifications? Straight blake or V-Blake? And whatever else!

I have a Meyer... . mounted on a Toyota FJ40 though, only used to plow
one note . . there are plows out there that are manual adjust , don't waste your money on them as you'll be sorry the first time you use it[watched two neighbors that had them curse at their mistake and then pay again for the hydro controls. . ]

Have Meyer plow on my jeep. This thing is old and just keeps on going. Very easy to work on when and if something goes wrong. Sure beats a snowblower. I only use it to plow my driveway.

The Boss V blades are really nice. I personally wouldn't put a blade on my Ram,the people I've known that did have had clutch/transmission problems. You're better off buying a beater truck for your plowing. I've heard that Jeep PUs hold up the best from people that do contract plowing.

i have a MEYER "MAX" for my 94,,its 7. 5ft ,poly blade ( no snow sticks on the poly ) it also has the touch pad to control the power angle( gotta have power angle )i mounted the touch pad on the left side of steering wheel so i can operate it with my left hand and steer and shift (auto)with the right. you can get the joystick control and mount it to the shifter on a manual. its been used on the truck every year and have had no problems with the transmission or front end,,i always plow with it in low lock 4wd ,the meyer set-up weighs around 750lbs and you need to add the same or a little more inside your bed over the axle and it will really move the heavy snow, you here of trucks being damaged because of plows on the front but usually its because the one thats plowing dont own the truck, if you can ,check out your places you plan on plowing before the snow comes ,curbs, manhole covers etc. take your time !! i have one set of chains for the ice and use them on the front. i have seen the v-blades work and it goes well in the deep stuff.

I have a 8 foot Fisher Minute Mount plow. I've only plowed one season. No problems yet. My previous truck was a 1998 2500 gasser. My new truck has much more pushing power. I do worry a little bit about damaging my transmission, so I'm trying to be as gentle as possible. One disadvantage of plowing with a diesel is the cab sometimes gets a little stinky. I plow sometimes with the window down (so I can see where the heck I'm going), and some fumes find their way into the cab when backing up. I know I'm supposed to enjoy the smell, but you can only take so much of a good thing.

One caution - when driving my 2500 extended cab with the plow on, I don't have much weight on the rear wheels. It is very easy to break the rear wheels free. I add 210 pounds of tube sand (3 70 pound tubes) to the very rear of my bed. I use a 2X6 fitted into the bed slots to keep the sand from shifting. #ad

I have a 7. 5' steel Meyers plow with power angle on my RAM. It was installed by the Dodge dealer's contractor. I used it for the first time this past winter plowing four driveways and a horse riding arena every time it snowed. No problems. Works great on moving the bulk of the snow and I use a snowblower on the tight areas. It does pay to know the areas you are going to plow so you know where the obstacles are. I did not add any weight to the bed other than my 200 pound ARE truck cap.
