This mode does not work on my 2009. Is this limited to 2010+ models?

Did you read the original post in this thread? It was a cut and paste from a Cummins internet newsletter stating the snowplow mode is available in all 2008 and newer model ISB6. 7s.

You would have thought that a simple " yes, it should work" would have been sufficient to answer his question ISO a lecture. I thought that TDR was a friendly place, at least it used to be.

I don't know if it works. I don't plow snow and haven't attempted to activate the snow plow mode in mine. All I know is what I posted.

All I know is that I tried it several times as soon as I seen a thread on it and It didn't work for me...

AND since I had subscribed to the thread on the day it was first posted, I went out and gave it a try again as soon as I noticed the new post!!! Still no luck!! #@$%!

Maybe it's something that is standard programming in earlier CC trucks through present and '10+ models for all of them. Maybe this feature needs to be activated by a dealer for us folks that own '09. 5 and earlier 'regular' pickups...

Mine was built in April of '09 and purchased new with 3 miles on the clock on 10-16-09... The current flash that was given shortly after it was unloaded from the transport, may have not contained this particular feature. I haven't been back to a dealership since that day (other than to pick up some stuff I ordered) because I do not trust ANYONE but ME to touch my truck!!

I got a version of the J-35 flash that may have overlooked or not included the option via a Smarty. It sounds like a neat feature to have and wish I could get it to work, but I hesitate to get an 'official' flash since I like my truck how it is!!

Keep in mind that It could have been thrown in with the last recall (J-35) that was a result of dealership and customer complaints from emissions equipment failing. DC probably figured they should include this option to avoid future repairs when a customer's truck blows a head gasket from overheating when it's below the freezing mark... Just a thought ;)

If I lived in the northland and plowed snow I would definitely want the feature enabled on mine.

A couple of members immediately activated it on their trucks after reading the Cummins news article.

Perhaps Mike Mullenax, Bob4x4, or sag2 will see this thread and clarify it for us.

I realize it has been a while since anyone added to this thread. My 2009 won't acknowledge the snow plow mode either. Had it in for service this week and ask the dealer to check it and they didn't know anything about it nor did they know what to check. They reflashed the J35 but still nothing. They are at a loss but were going to start charging big bucks to pursue it further. Has anyone made any break-throughs for trucks that won't acknowledge the mode?

Hi all,

I know it's been a while since this topic has been up front but....

I attempted to activate the snow plow mode a couple of times with the key in the "on" position and the "acc" position and never heard the activation chime. However, the fan did seam to run more. It was 15 degrees tonight, kinda odd to hear the fan this much. So the question is once activate is there any type of indicator other than the chime? Is it possible to activate and not hear the chime?

If someone could confirm the key position that would be great. Is it the "on" or the "acc" position? What flash definitely contains or allows this function?

Thanks Once Again,
CMB

Anybody know anything about Harvey Barlow? He was a brash, opinionated old cuss, but I kinda liked him. Maybe his submarine dove too deep a time or two! Mark

so the line to sign up for the newsletter no longer functions... can some post a new one... I can't seem to find the location on the web site....

Thanks...

BTW have any of you tried this towing... I have 2 long 6-7% grades I pull annually in hot weather... and would love for the transmission and engine to run a little cooler at those lower speeds...
