A friend of mine has an 04 GMC 3500 SRW w/ te 8. 1L that he is looking to trade on a diesel. He is talking with Tomeygun, but hasn't ruled out a D-Max. No brand loyalty for him. More based on the price. He talked to a Chevy dealer and whoever he spoke to said that a snowplow will void the warranty when installed on GM diesel trucks. Is that true? Further is there a problem with installing a plow on a new Dodge/Cummins?

Bloomy,

To the best of my knowledge, Dodge offers a "snow plow prep", option so I can't see how that would void the warranty. Hope this helps

Kris

started a thread last night saying same thing. Chevy dealer wouldn't even sell my buddy a truck because he wants to plow with it. Im sure they would void the warranty on at least the suspension of the truck.

God, how many times does this need to be covered?

Your dealer cannot void your warranty due to the addition of an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the failure you have is attributed to the aftermarket part.

If he plows and rips his ball joints up, that's not going to be covered.

If the radio quits because he has a plow on the front, they cannot and will not deny coverage.

If they can show the plow wiring was the cause of ANY electrical failure, no warranty coverage there either.

Nonsense. The circuit for the snow plow has nothing to do with the radio.

Dodge offers the snow plow prep package on trucks with the CTD. If you have the package you can put on a plow with nothing to worry about.

Dealer can ONLY deny repairs,They do NOT have the Legal Power to void your Warranties, Why give the Dealer More legal Rights than they Have,Look at the Langauge ,It say ( BLANK voids vehicle warranties) its Does Not say DOES OR WILL. Some dealers use fear to Promote their will and Not the Manufactures. On the other hand if you install race equipment Or ulter the vehicle performance to the Point that it Hard for the Dealer tech to do a proper diagnostics. Try and do find why the customer has hard start and blue smoke when the vehicle is at 18% load at 750 RPMs ,because of a aftermarket in take system.

Sorry Tim,

Didn't mean to upset you. I was merely relaying a request for a friend of mine that had a question. I saw the other thread just after I started this one. Just looking for some info. Thanks for the replies.
