I understand DC has discontinued the snow plow prep. opt. on the 03 and 04 diesel. Is this true? What the hell are they thinking. Proud owner of 2001 HO 2500 with snow plow prep.

My 04 Cummins has the plow prep... . plus it's a Quad cab diesel. GM doesn't allow it with their IFS.

I was told from local dealer that the Quad cab long beds cannot get plow prep from DC. I think they are afraid you will bew bending the frame around. To long for all that torque.

Other configurations can get plow prep.

I doubt it is because the frame cannot handle it, being a longer wheelbase it probably puts too much load on the front axle. My '03 SWB quad cab has the plow prep. Could you get a 2nd gen quad cab with plow prep?

My 01 is a quad cab long bed and has a snow plow prep. Can you get a 04 short bed with the snow plow prep?

My 2003 2500 long bed quad cab has snow plow preppack, so what's up with that? I also have the trailer tow pack and the heavy duty susp pack.

I am awaiting my 2004. 5 2500 4x4 CTD Quad cab LWB. It is due to arrive next week. If it was SWB I could have gotten the Plow prep. I did order the tow package so I think the only item missing is a skid plate that the Plow prep would have added.

If you build one on www.dodge.com you get the plow prep option on the short bed 2500 but not on the 2500 long bed. I did not check the 3500 SRW.

I have the 2500 long bed "with" the snow plow option. It was ordered in Feb and delivered to me in April. If the site won't allow you to build it there is something wrong with the site.

Buzzer. . Is yours a Quad Cab long bed? T think this is the only config DC won't allow Plow prep on. At least that was what the dealer told me.

Malibu. . I do believe the Plow prep adds other items if you choose that alone. The other items are also included in the Towing option except for the skid plate.

Its a regular cab. After my post I found that the quad cab with the long bed may not be available.

What does a plow prep give you anyway?

I thought I read with the gasser you get 135 amp alt but the diesel doesn't because of the dual batteries. What else?

I ordered a 97' regular cab with the snow plow package because of the big bumpers I make. The package then consisted of Extra heavy springs(in front), skid plate package, 241HD transfer case(which was stock on the duallys but not on 3/4 tons with or without the Cummins), and a higher rated alternator. This however was a mute point when getting the diesel since it came with the higher rated amperage anyway. The case had a wider and thicker chain and well as PTO provisions. I believe the package also included cab clearence lights. On the new trucks they still offer a snow plow package but you do not get the bigger springs. It is mainly a wiring affair that includes the skid plates. I don't know why they discontinued the heavier springs or the stabilizers for that matter. I do know that the 97 is by far the most stable truck under serious loads that I have had, including the 89 or 91. 5 dodge with the cummins.

Nope. The plow option still comes with heavier springs, at least on the 2500. There was a thread about this a few months back where someone actually listed the spring part #'s and their applications. I agree the option is very confusing especially because most of what they offer as an option comes standard wit the diesel and tow option anyway.

The plow prep for the diesel trucks consists of heavier front springs and a skid plate. Also, the batteries and alternator are rated the same with or without the plow prep. Finally, our alternators are actually the smaller unit and not the 160amp like some people seem to think.

The Plow prep option comes with the whats listed below. You're basicly paying for the Skidplate... No change in the springs...

Heavy Duty Snow Plow Prep Group

MSRP: $130. 00

160-Ampere Alternator

750-Ampere Maintenance-Free Battery

Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield
