Snow Plow

My boss wants to give me a 9' western plow for my 05 2500. Is this too much plow for my truck? I will only be plowing our parking lot and the two bosses driveways.

I Had An 8' On My 92 3500drw And That Was Plenty, Putting A 7 1/2 On My 04 2500 Srw, But If Its Free Cut It Down Acouple Feet

I'm hoping to just put some timbrens on it, a pallet from work(3K lbs. ), and be done with it. Do the 3500 and 2500 have the same front end components?

It shouldn't be too much for your truck, I was carrying a 1000# Blizzard 810 on mine w/o any problems. the frontend is the same between the 3/4 and1 tons.

How much plow ?

I don't know about the 2005 models put past models had the plow package which gives you heavier than standard front springs to accomodate the extra weight above the engine weight of the Cummins up front...

I think if you look at the actual spec, Dodge basically has you only able to use a little plastic plow to be within their guidelines. With that said I hang a 9 foot Fisher off the front of mine. I wouldn't want to travel too far with it but it does very well. I put the D25 coils in the front and it made things alot better, don't forget about counter balance.

How much lift did the D25's give you. I think with the plow and my 35's i'll be rubbing quite a bit more.

I run a 9' Fisher on my 04. 5 DRW. I don't believe Dodge has a snow plow prep for the cummins equiped trucks as the weight of the enging puts the front axle too close to the rated load. It wasn't available when I purchased my current truck. There is no need to cut the 9' down and the 1st time you use it you will appreciate the width. I limit the over road travel with the plow installed and only plow 3 driveways... and remove it when not in use.

I have 35's with D25's on mine and the plow I mentioned earlier. D 25's started A 2. 5" but they have settled down to 1. 5", I didn't have any rubbing.

We have a 9' Fisher on our 2002, its been plowing for 3 years, no problems yet. We run about 800lbs of counter weight in the back and the truck has kelderman airbags up front.

When I bought my truck, it had a 10 ft western plow on it. I took it off cuz here, I have yet to see enough snow to make it worht the extra weight and stress.



It's useless to me, and it is well used, but works.

im about to put a 8' meyer on mine. 10 foot sounds huge. i was curious about the 8' clearing enough of a path so my outer tires dont catch snow. but whatever the price is right. how does 700 sound for a 8' polyplow. i have yet to get it though.

It's not if the truck can handle the weight of the plow, it's no problem for a CTD. It's how much extra work the truck has to do to move the extra snow the 9ft. plow allows. I've heard 8ft. plows for 2500 (3/4 ton) trucks, and 9ft. for 3500's (1 ton & bigger).

My truck has the snow plow prep package on it, but it doesn't mean I can put too big a plow on it. The 8 ft. will be big enough. IMO 9ft. on a 2500 is too big.

8ft won't be wide enough. Even with the 9ft on sweeping corners I am running over teh furrows with both of my rear tires.

Your truck has a lot of momentum to be pushing a poly plow and you will need to be VERY careful with hitting things. On a small vehicle a poly plow may not break on impact --- but on these it definately will

Well I got it put on today and it didnt squat any more than the dually does. Last winter I had 2500 reg. cab hemi with a fisher 7. ?" and it was too small for that trucks capability. I think that the 9' will be just right. Pushing it wont be a problem with the 35" tire/4. 10 gear combo. There's nothing better than a short truck w/a huge plow for tight corners and big lots as long as it's balanced somewhat good IMO.

I am currently installing my 7'6 pro plow from my 97 to my 2005. The dealer said that Western has gone to positive ground and a different pin configuration. I asked how much for the parts and he replied about 1,200. 00 for the wire harness and the plow mount adapter. Said you have to change the plow lights and wire harness. I found a second dealer that said he could modify my harness for 100. 00 New brackets170. 00 welding 40. 00
