I am looking to put a snowplow on my 2004. 5 3500 CTD.

It's a quadcab with a shortbed... .

Can I even put a plow on this truck?

If I can what manufacturer would you use?

I don't plow commercially and I do have an automatic.

Thanks for your feedback.

I would get the 8' Fisher minute mount X blade. I used to have a 7. 5' RD minute mount, it was a great plow. Now I have a big snow blower, got sick of doing my driveway and everybody else's with my plow.

If memory serves me correctly, the warranty would be ???

The truck and suspension can handle a plow. It all depends on what you want to use it for and what product is available in your area. I have had two Boss snowplows in the past and both took a beating with out any problems. My next choice would be a Blizzard.

A good plow for that truck would be either an 8' or 9'. Personally I like the Western Plows. Have had them for several years with no issues, and there new Ultra Mount system is by far the best mounting system out today.

Currently I am using an 8' Poly Pro Plow from Western. Super strong and you will never have to worry about painting it.

Say it isn't so!

Please... . we've had a bad enough summer, the thought of snow, well, just upsets me!

As for me, I use my New Holland TC25D4 with a 5 foot bucket, and 6 foot back blade..... my truck shouldn't show any wear with that setup :)

Somewhere on Dodges site i found the actual plow recommendation chart. I think it was under something called body builder section or something like that. Anyways they were only recommending a 7. 5 ft plow for my truck. Seems like a little girlie plow for such a manly truck :-laf . Most likely due to the weight im sure.

I have a 2004, and was running an 8' Fisher MM2 (with no problems- w/ the plow or truck), then I got bit by the "Blizzard bug" and replaced the Fisher with a Blizzard 810. Biggest mistake I ever made. The Blizzard wasn't all it was cracked up to be and the vehicle mount hung so low, it would always bottom out going into driveways. So, I heading back to Fisher this season. My buddy ran a 9' Fisher Xblade (2003 3500 DRW) last year and it was real nice, so I'll be picking mine up (8' though) probably next month.

"What is included in the snow plow prep package? Can it be retrofitted?

Dave"

A transfer case skid plate (that's it) according to the Dodge website. Plus it's part of your options list, so the dealer can't mess with you about warranty stuff.

I just had a Boss 9' on my 04. 5. Dodge says I have voided my warranty because it's a quad with duals. I knew that going into it though. F*%@ and C@$&# are the same. I pushed some sand the other day in 2wd and the driveshaft started to twist. I will always plow in 4wd from now on. I think the CTD will tear this truck apart if it gets the chance. :-laf

Stiffer springs are the major addition. The CTD already has the heavier alternator and batteries. Dodge also has in its records its prepped for snow plow use. Maybe for warrenty purposes. Who knows?

Yes! My house is on a private road thats mostly sand. So i figured I'd back drag to smooth some bumps out. It worked. We'll the neighbor says "hey try pushing it". He owns a forg with a meyers. He tried before and couldn't. You get the idea. Same as last week he was in the truck and I had to show him the dodge doesn't shut down like his @ 96mph. We've skipped the greener grass Sh*# and gone head to head.
