Howdy,

Can anyone tell me - exactly what Dodge does - to a new truck -

when it is ordered with the Snowplow option ?

Will any of this get in the way of an aftermarket bumper - like a Buckstop with a Winch ?

Thanks... .....

I think the snowplow undercarriage is bolted to the frame rails behind the front bumber so there may be a problem with aftermarket bumbers protruding out to far to mount the plow and pump. I have a old Meyer's and it would definitly not work but I'm not up to date on the newer plows or trucks. Heavier front coil springs, bigger alternator to name a few improvements. Someone with a newer truck needs to chime in, cause I'm talking 13 years ago.

I think on my 01. 5 the snowplow prep package had stronger front coil springs, adjustable spring height, HD transfer case (241HD) and possibly higher amp alternator, but not positive on the alternator, maybe a skid plate. Mine came on my truck off the lot so I am not up on what would have been involved in ordering it.

Not sure if you can order he actual plow from Dodge or not.

When I am under my truck I dont think that there is anything else that would interfer with a new bumper. I would think that any plow would come with its own sub frame/mount since there are so many different brands/years/configurations.

hope this helps,

J-

I had a 03 hemi with the plow prep and now have an 06 diesel with the plow prep... . And thats exactly what it is, a prep. more cooling, heavier electrial system and suspension. the bumber mounts the same way as one with out the prep package. if you put a plow on a truck without the prep package you will void your warranty. hope this helps!!!
