Picked up New Replacement Truck Today

I am putting a snowplow on a new 3500 quad srwlb. I pefer Sno Way or Fisher (stainless steel blade) I am concerned with the mount on the truck (clearence and good looks!) Any one have pictures of 3rd gen. w/ mounts installed? And any other advice on which plow works best on 3rd gen trucks.

I would suggest going with a BOSS plow. That is what I have been running and it is also the easiest to take on and off IMHO. I have an 8'2 steel V-Blade and have had no issues, and the mount was very easy to put on, and has a very clean look. Sorry, if I knew how to post pictures I would.

I forgot to mention that it helps if you get a front end leveling kit put on. Mine is a 3" spacer and it really helps with the weight so your front end doesn't sag as much.

Fisher, Western, and Meyer all make a undercarriage that will go on a 3rd gen truck. These new plows, I don't know the models, all have the entire plow assembly including the pump and blade setup that come off leaving only the undercarriage assembly on the truck. These are the best looking when removed. The only thing I don't like about them is that the removed assembly is large and hard to move around after removal. If you have a good spot to leave off season then your in luck. If you need model numbers I can check with my buddy that installs probably 125 of them a year. Let me know. Tom

I have a 8ft fisher X-blade on my 06 2500. I have timbrens front and back on my truck, but its heavier to start than most. It has a 9ft Stahl GCX service body on it. I also run a speedcaster salter. The mounts look fine up front to me when the plow is off. Before I had my plow installed I took the airdam off, purely for looks. Truck handels the plow fine. Had the plow on with and without the the timbrens, only put them on because of the added weight of the body and a load of salt.

I second the BOSS plow... I love mine!!! It is the fastest acting plow I have seen, and the relief valves don't give immediately when you are trying to stack snow deep. Also, it is the easiest plow out there to get on and off your truck, bar none. I've used all the Fishers and a couple Curtises, and they suck in comparision. Plus, the BOSS is Dodge Red! Looks way better on the truck than a yellow or orange blade. And the lights are ten times better than any other plow made (no, I am not a BOSS dealer or employee). :-laf

Western and Fisher have new lights out that are like the boss ones. Don't know why they released them after winter... They also have a new plow called the xtreme V. All of this just came out, now that my truck is all set up. Best way to chose a plow though is by the dealer. Find the closest one that has the best service, and thats the plow you want to get. You don't want to have to go driving a long distance in a storm for parts/service.

buy the best, buy a BOSS!!!!

SRW go with the 8'2" V plow. fisher, meyer, western all make good plows but they cant compete with a innovative quality driven company like boss. theyve been the company with the first step in a direction and others follow.

I run 9' westerns on the 05' and 04'. Used to run it on the chevy :-laf If I replace the chevy this winter, the new truck will probably get a 8'2" v-vlade :) boss, 9' straight is a little big for most driveways. The lights suck on the westerns and they are a little slow imo. Timberens would help but arent necessary. I dont run them on any of the trucks.

My personal favorite is the Blizzard 810 power plow. I used one on my truck while I was in AK. it is real easy to hook up, you just get the truck somewhat close and then hook up the electrical connector. Then you push a switch on the plow and it pulls itself to the truck, then all you have to do is put in 2 safety pins. look in my readers rigs for a pic of the snowplow mount on my truck. BTW the light bar is on quick connects also.

Here is the website for Blizzard:

Business use... 20 driveways on my route. And Scrappy, how much snow are you pushing down in Florida with that Blizzard plow anyhow??? :-laf

I have a western plow on my plow truck no complaints plowing commercially with it. The guy I work for has a fisher and it works very well also. It probably will come down to which mounting system you like the best. Both western and fisher have good websites, check them out.

I don't plow in Fl, when I lived in Anchorage AK(ALASKA) I was plowing commercially. I plowed about 10-12 different sized parking lots with a couple of them being rather large.

I kinda figured... . just looked funny. That's gotta be a shock to the system, going from the Arctic Circle to Florida!!!
