Damn, i wonder why the red fuel is so much, it should only be about 2. 25 minus 24 fed and 24 state taxes... . that puts it at about 1. 75... maybe they sell at a premium... ill give them a call and ask... Does anyone know what the definate fine is in california? I'm just gonna weight the pros and cons i guess :) Yes, you dont want to mess with the IRS!!!!

Thanks

Thanks

arco in la mirada @ valleyview and alondra has red and is unmanned, pump a thousand gallons if you wish???

I would not worry to much about running red as much as i would trying to buy clear and try to take the off road deduction. I used to run a set of bottom dumps and claimed about 40% off road and they always questioned it but i was in the right. The only time i've seen them check for red dyed is at constricton sites where their is a lot of yellow iron and off road fuel on site.

That's a start, I'll start running CA again when fuel gets down to $1. 50's. Bad enough CA is known for cheap freight, outrageous fuel makes it a no deal.

Cheers,

Don`t go to a farm sale, or livestock auction! Oregon is looking at this for revenue. Idaho is ,so far, only a problem up in the Palouse area. Don.

Hey guys in california, especially LA county..... I have never ever ever heard of getting the dip test. . Just stay away from cattle auctions and construction sites... . Otherwise yours fine. I'm gonna start running the red dye fuel when i get my truck in a week or so. I know i wont get caught and i dont really feel bad. Our fathers said, Taxation without representation... . Well my gun loving white self doesnt have a say in california so why should i pay such outragious taxes? We are taxed to death on everything here!

Again if you are still worried, put a locking gas cap on the tank... . if you get approched and they want to dip test you, say you dont have the key... i mean what are they gonna do, break the lock? i doubt it

It's not just the California crowd suffering. I filled up yesterday in the Phoenix area for $2. 21 a gallon. I'm just sick of hearing the price is high because of the county/state required additives. You can feed that to the gasser crowd but it doesn't have anything to do with the diesel. Oh well, I'm still glad I don't live in the republic of Arnold (oops, California)

That really is the issue. Fuel prices are, of course, variable depending upon taxes etc. but it cannot account for a dollar a gallon price differential. It is understanable that fuel cost will go up and up till there is no more fossil fuels to burn but no where have I seen a logical explanation for such huge price descepencies between states.

Here are the facts.....

Phoenix is one of the places that thinks following CARB and Cal EPA Bureaucrats is something to look wise at doing, and do their own wise thinking on cleaner air. As far as the California refineries not having the capacity - that is complete BS and is exactly what they want you to THINK is going on... . they only make a small bit of CRG - (California Reformulated Gasoline - that is the crap that CalEPA/CARB certifiable idiots created thinking it lowers emissions and is required to keep life) Yet at the same time, these refineries make millions of gallons a day of plain FRG (Federal Reformulated Gasoline) and ship it out of the state. They deliberately make a small amount of the CRG to keep the price high. They have a state-sponsored monopoly with gasoline in CA. No one else is stupid enough to require the use of CRG. This adds up to over FOUR BILLION DOLLARS each year that is LEAVING the state economy and heading right into the pockets of the worldwide oil company stockholders.

The diesel fuel has to have a low (<500ppm I believe) sulfur content, and this is a costly procedure to carry out. In Jan 2006, Ultra Low (<10ppm) is slotted on the books. When these bureaucrats in CalEPA decided to cut sulfur - they REFUSED to listen to any of the scientists telling them that it would ruin the lubricity of the fuel and ruin diesel injection pumps. They also REFUSED to even TEST the fuel - they just slapped the regulation on the books and forced everyone to use it trying to look smart. After enough engine injection pumps (you all here know how much they cost) were destroyed in short order, they put a small amount of lubricity in the fuel, but it is still very low, and varies a lot.

These same bungling bureaucrats, along with CARB, decided to also use MTBE to lower emissions - but MTBE is a MAJOR pollutant and actually did FAR more harm to the environment than good. Their tests for that were complete fraud and way off-track to reality uses of the fuel. These so-called environmentalists FAILED to realize that if you decrease the energy content of the fuel, more of it would be burned for the same work - DUH! Even a kid can figure that out. And so not only was more gas being burned, putting out more pollution, but all of that extra gas also had MTBE in it - which caused all of its problems in the first place - to be put into the environment. MTBE is a MAJOR POLLUTANT, not just a little environmentally unfriendly! And these so-called environmentalist (really ecofrauds) forced it. These are the same ones who think all nuclear power is evil, and that all of mankind is responsible for this global warming, yet THEY ARE THE ONES that are forcing the world to burn COAL, the major player in this global warming that they are all screaming about! These are the same ones (along with their buddy-buddys known as the Sierra Club and Earth First, etc) who are forcing the forests in California to be burned - thinking it is ``Natures Way" of cleaning the forests of what is really polluted with their earlier ``no fires allowed" ideas. They force all the trees to be burned, they refuse to allow any management such as clearing the overgrown debris on the forest floor caused by never burning, and thinning, all of which causes a FIRE STORM, not just a fire, that burns EVERYTHING, instead of just the small low branches. Then, when everything is burned (and they are all happy at it) they love to see all the grass come back, thinking it is renewing itself. But they FAILED (yet again) to realize that all the BIG TREES are gone, so there are no protection or seed crop, and the land is taken over by shrubs which prevent trees from growing. Remember - they call themselves the saviors of the earth. These guys are complete certifiable idiots and ``need recycled. " This is why they are referred to as the Environmental Pollution Agency, as they do more polluting than protecting. They are all on the public payroll - taking the tax payers hard earned income, while they sit in their comfortable rocker chairs in Sacramento and come up with all of their BLACK ideas.

And, as far as contacting the state Attorney Gen - forget that- that idiot likes to pretend that he knows nothing that is going on - HE IS THE ONE THAT AUTHORIZED AND WENT WITH all of the above mentioned BS - so he knows exactly what is going on.

Diesel fuel prices have been about $1. 69 for weeks in my area of NC. I don't understand why Biodiesel isn't more popular. It seems to me to be the solution to several diesel issues.

Bio diesel costs a lot to make (although it is about 400% profit) but the main deal is that for supply of it to meet demand (if everyone used it) would need tens of millions of acres just to supply CA. Rapeseed makes about 100 Gallons per acre, but there are millions of gallons of diesel used each DAY in CA. Biodiesel is mostly just an ester of a variety of oils, which actually is getting close to being able to be competetive, but the drawback right now is the lack of supply of rapeseed oil. It currently is still cheaper to use crude. And, the more people that would start using Biodiesel, the supply would go way down, causing the price to go up.

But yes, it is getting to the point where it is feasable, but the acreage is needed for it to work, and that simply is not there yet (in supplies to make the price decent let alone supply the nation (or even one state) their fuel needs.

Also keep in mind that the only "bio" in biodiesel is that it can be quickly made compared to petro. , makeing it more ``renewable. " That is all, as many people completely do not understand that petro is MADE FROM BIOMASS such as plants (usually a swamp/bog)
