So I think I screwed up on exhaust tip choice

Where do I get fuel pressure from on the Fass

Rv Diesel Generator

So when I had my truck straight piped, I had him weld on a rolled edge, slant cut 5"x12" tip. I was thinking it's stainless but it may only be chrome, it's staining bad, getting pits, and crap all over it.

What should I do to clean it, something that won't scratch it up? Maybe a plastic soft bristle brush?

If that doesn't work then I may scrap it. 4" straight is nice but if I want to get it redone should I do 5" or 4". I know the pros and cons of both, so I will probably do 4" again... .

I don't know, so many options!

I was thinking of building my own but the 4" turbo back and 5" cat backs aren't too bad... .

the mothers power ball and power metal polish works pretty well. it a little spendy if your just doing your tip, but if you have rims, or other shining parts that need polishing, i think it worth it. saves a lot of time and works well.

heck, steel wool works on everything. i use it to clean glass too. i always get the fine stuff. like #000 or something.

If it's stainless, steel wool will scratch.

If it's stainless, and you're willing to invest ~10 minutes on a very dirty tip:

Wash soap on a crappy wash mitt. Just lightly go over it to start break-down.

Then, with a Maguires-type round sponge applicator dipped in a detailers solvent, soak and lightly "scrub"... . slop it on there and keep working... . it'll start removing all the final crap. Rinse thoroughly with another try with the soapy wash mitt and lots of water. None of this will leave it scratched.

Any stubborn marks will polish out with the metal polish of your choice once everything is dry, if you want.

Yeah, I know it's anal, but you asked. My 5 1/2 x 24" tip cost $95
