Competition Big Bad Dodge for Sale?

Not a very scientific method to figure this. But I bet I am rather close to this assumption...

Please refer to the "fixed box" in this thread:

So, my buddy and I get together and he agrees, my truck is much faster. :) And smokes more then his :)

Call a few friends since it's prolly one of the last days out to cruise around and cause trouble. it's high 40's out temp wise, nice night.

Enter 2005 Stock mistsu Evo. These things run an honest 13. 5, maybe a bit faster with a good hole shot at 13. 2.

This is a friend of a friend. So we did a bunch of runs.

First run was highway. 55mph, 5th gear. I took the leave (being the under dog here) and we ran up to about 100mph. I had a total of 1 truck on the leave and that's all I could keep. DEAD EVEN!!!!

A second run was on the street, loosing traction in 3rd, I grabbed 4th and broke the lumbar on my seat!!!! maybe I fixed it, I kinda like it now, :) he didn't even think about passing as we were equal after that as well.

So we pulled over and I checked out my seat (crap!!!). ohh well ya know? So leaving this parking lot I rolled up to 3rd gear and punched it, he was right behind me all the way up to 90... later I asked, did you have to peddle it to not run into me? I got an honest _NO_. I had it to the floor the entire time. I'm like WOW. that's wild.

3rd and final run was a dead stop, Dude, this fixed box fuels as I'm ridding out the clutch, wow this truck as never launched so hard, I think I put the rear tires on the bump stops, some thought I was going to go to wheel hop. But I pulled hard on this evo, grabbed 3rd and 4th and the evo dropped outa site, he missed 2nd. I'm like, I started out in second, I don't what's the problem here? :-laf

Bottom line here is that I"m dead even on all areas expect, turning, breaking, and 108+ with a Evo. I'm rather happy with my truck now. :) I should turn a nice low low 13 next spring, and possibly over 500hp at the wheels as well now.

you have a manual or auto?

nevermind i saw your sig, its a manual. too hang with a evo you must be really shifting fast, hope you get into the 13's

ohh yeah. I can row the gears pertty good. It's not un-common that if some one sees me race, they ask what kinda automatic I have. I answer and I get a confused face :)

What's also differnet with working box, vs, broken box is that I do not seem to lose ANY POWER at all between shifts. typically I would go from 5th to 6th and have a 1/2 moment while the turbo re-spools. This is the EZ on 3 working for me better with the other box working I"m sure. . if I'm hovering around 8psi, she spools to 30 instantly. never was like this before.

And I'm sure I'm well into the 13's. Tho, we never did a 0-100mph run, but we did 3 parts of it in reverse order, 55-100, 30-90 and 0-60-ish and I never had that evo ever run past me. he claims he was in the best gear for each run except once, and that run I was low in the R's and had to wait to get things moving a bit my self.

Yeah it sounds like your in the 13's but you never got a really good head to head race off the line.

In drag racing its all about what you do in the first 60ft. You can gain and loose a second there and it sounded like the evo messed up and you couldnt get a good race.

Try to get another race off the line with the evo bouncing off the rev limmiter and launching hard vs you.

Good luck and you got 13's for sure.

Do you lift off the accelerator durning your shifts or is the pedel planted to the floor the whole time.

I can never seem to speed shift into 5th... I always have to lift and make sure its in there unlike all the other shifts which are like butter except 4-5th.

Great job

I lift off of throttle every shift for a brief moment.

BigDan,

I wasn't racing the person here more so the car. this suggests that I'm running mid to low 13's in a perfect run. :) Now I know the next class of cars I can pony up to on the road now :)

And that list includes:

WRX STI

S2000

Anything with a hemi

350hp vettes (c5's included, specifically the auto's, ohh I need a camera on a run with one of these)

SVT F150's.

SRT-10 Ram's (this would be fun on a video as well).

And the list goes on.

I never liked the idea of the R's to run up to 3800+ in between shifts like that. Not to mention the ware on the clutch. And what about concern for valve float?

I've tried it a few times, tho not an expert in that syle, a few people I know that do it all the time in gassers way over rev things between every shift to gain very little, if anything at all.

Also, if you spin the input shaft up (the pilot barring will help spin) a bit I"m sure, won't that create more stress on the synco's and make it a bit tougher to get into the gear, thus slowing the shift?

HA! I could only imagine :)

Racing on the street typically has no correlation to racing at the strip and track times ;)

Too many variables. Traction, who is in the throttle first, how long of a race, etc. Besides, most street encounters happen in less than an 1/8 mi.

I can beat 10 sec. cars on the street on fuel only, doesn't mean I have a 10 sec. truck ;)

Only sure fire way is to go to the strip and see what she does! :D

Unless me and the GF take a road trip south for a vacation + track time. that's not going to happen until spring.

FWIW my SRT4 runs 13. 2 @ 109 in the 1/4. My 1/8 time was 8. 97, which isn't too much less than your 9. 2

Without a doubt, you're in the neighborhood, but aerodynamics is definitely against you :-laf

That 9. 2 is with a broken box. At the track I couldn't get this truck to pull any descent hole shots... STOCK I bet my 60-foots would of been quicker. Either I'd bogg the motor, or slip the poop out the clutch. She doesnt' bog now, just MOVES.

Now 2500rpm and just about dropping the clutch she pulls twice has hard and fuels much much ealier.

If it wasn't for a cold transmission and missing 3rd, I would of put the smack down on a WS6 today. . I pulled 2 trucks on the hole shot, just missed 3rd, so I finally got that in gear and he pulled 2 cars past. once I was in 4th the score was even and I was gaining a little ground in 5th.

:)
