Brother in Law's New 05 Furd

Cummins vs. Powerjoke

for a while Ive been contemplating making it into a gas turbine, that would be fun. . . but rather useless. my other option, since I have this kickin ISB 5. 9?????????

I dont know if the exhaust gasses from the 5. 9 have enough energy to turn this thing properly. infact, I have no clue what it came off of. it was in the scrap mteal bin at work, I noticed it and pulled it out. I took it apart and the bearings look brand new, the thrust plate has no wear on it, and the exhaust turbine has no soot on it. so I could estimate it has less than an hour of operation on it. just enough to get it up to speed and check it out.

so. . . what could I do with it

Put it on eBay... all you have to do is include these two keywords somewhere in the ad: "4G63, DSM"

You'll sell it quicker than a box of plastic beads at Mardi Gras...

Nice turbo..... If you want to know what it came off of call your local cat dealer with the part # and serial # should beable to give you a good Idea what it came off of... . It's hard to tell what It would do a 5. 9 If you could get it to light Im sure it would do something.

Also is that a Clodzilla or a T-MAX in the background

If you want to make a gas turbine I can help as I have made one in a couple different versions with a Holset HT3B (Cummins N14 turbo). They are fun noise makers!

Besides the propane condensing and cooling the beers, the exhaust from these turbines also makes a nice sausage or hot dog cooker. I cooked a bratwurst in 30 seconds behind my 30x5" exhaust pipe, about 6 inches out from the exit :D

I'd like to see the turbo pic also!

the links should work. . . however the images are being hosted off my geo**ity's web server :(

I have a friend who was on Junk Yard Wars a few years back that built a gas turbine race car on the show. he's got a go-kart with a converted turbo off a Contenental V12 thats droped in M88 track recovery vehicles. now thats a turbo with some cahonees. able to push him to nearly 70mph in a 1/4 mile

I know your friend, kinda sorta. I have spoken to him via bulletin board on the Yahoo DIYGasTurbine site. Chris is his name, right?

That turbo is a little bigger than the one I am using. Looks in good shape!

yup. . . Chris Krug I have pics of his turbine running and him kicking in the afterburner. had the police drop in saying they had reports of gunfire in the area. :D

Ive got another turbo, a smaller Garret T3 that would be a fun noise maker, or I could do a good rebuild and put it on my toyota :)

Drew if you don't use the turbo for anything let me know I would like to play with it on my truck and see what it might do, Im have alot of stuff in mind right now and a turbo is one of them.

That's him! I saw the Junkyard Wars episode and his jet kart. I am going to convert my oil and ignition system to 12V so I can run it on a kart. My neighbor has a nice donor kart frame. I am also building afterburner for mine :)
