So many rookie Q's so little time (2nd Cruise Control)

After driving half way across the country from Wash to Fla my cruise control decided that I should never exceed 62 mph. Anytime I would set it above 62 it would slowly fade back to 62 and hold. If I set it at anything below 62, no problem, it would hold (except up hills). I adjusted the cable which seemed to work for a short time. So I would adjust it again, only to get the same result. It's starting to get even worse and I'm running out of adjustment. And we all know how tired our right foot can get in a 70 mph zone, those gas pedals are quite a workout.



Once again I would really appreciate some veteran input,

I can't speak for the cruise control, I never got used to using it, but I know what you mean by the tired leg in the 70mph zone.



When my truck was stock anything over 7omph was not comfortable to drive and the truck always felt like it was running out of steam. After doing the modifications 70mph is like what 55 used to be SLOW



It is a wonderful thing to be traveling 70+ and be able to step on it to make a pass or get out of the way of something larger than me.



The transmission work was a huge improvement too. 70 used to be 2100 rpm now it is 1800.

Have you checked the vacuum line going to the control head. If it has a hole in it. There will not be enough vacuum to hold a high throttle setting.

I would love to cruise at 70 like it was 55, but I just got done fixing the transmission about 15,000 mi ago. But out of curiousity, what did you do to your transmission to get those results. Did it help or hurt your gas mi. ? As for the vacuum leak, I am going to check that out today. Thanks for the tip.
