Keep your jumper wire there on the battery. Next time it dies on the highway, you can jump it and keep on going. I had to do that in my first 93, and it backfed some stuff in the cab.

When my alternator / battery died, I ran the truck 2 hours home with one of those portable jump starter packs. I ran the power outlet to the solenoid. Once started with jumper cables, the little power pack kept the solenoid open all the way home. I seem to remember that it needs 7V to hold it open. But don't hold me to that one too hard.

Try that one with a new truck. :-laf
