Where's BIG?

That's OK my wife drives a 2011 TDI Jetta already. Several others here on this site also have VW Dubs too.

To add fuel to the rumor mill I have heard several times that VW (and Fiat) are looking at Navistar very hard. That may be the driving force behind the above mentioned partnership so it may have nothing at all to do with cars.

Mike.

I am okay with that......I have owned, driven, broken, crashed and repaired them for almost 50 years.

Maybe Fiat wants to pawn off CNH to VW... "it may have nothing to do with cars." either.:-laf

Bill

Don't pay any attention to Mike Wilson. He turned his back on his oil burning VeeDub for a darn Cady! Guy is just sitting up there in Maine swatting skeeters with a baseball bat and handing out filters anyway.:-laf

I had to buy a new bug light at Home Depot last week because my arms were getting tired........

Driving home at night with the world's finest climate control and cooled seats is really hard to take, I know........I do feel a twinge of guilt when I pass a TDI....but I'll get over that this winter.:-laf

I bought Hoopty some new bling, bling rims, I'll have to post a picture......Only reason I did was because two of the existing rims were bent, bent. Put the new tires on and could not balance them.....

Mike.

I ran the 22" rims w/spinners idea by the wife, kids and grandkids, but was quickly shot down......one response was "Don't you dare put those on that car"......:D

Another response was "What in He!! is wrong with you?".........:D (A question that has presented itself on many occasions)

Mike.

I figured you would go for some "elbows".

Rusty; are those from the movie Ben-Hur or something like that? Maybe a 007 movie with James Bond driving an Aston Martin instead.

Nope - they're coveted items in the 'hoods in Houston. In fact, they'll kill you to steal your car just for the wheels. If you'd rather buy them, see HERE.

Mike, put carlashes on them. Your co-workers need something new to wag their tongues about anyway.

Gary, Sounds like a bunch of "Fahrvergnügen", to me! Watch our fer them "skeeters"! Maybe BIG will bring a few back with him! The onliest critter BAD enough to take a bite out of a Montana Grizz and live to tell of it =)!

Greg,

I had one of those Farfignewton T-shirts, like a glow in the dark green with the stick figure back maybe 20 years ago. Not sure why I even wore it back then.

My little Bug w/o spark ignition is getting 43 MPG.

Gary

Gary! Only 43?? I had a naturally aspirated diesel '79 VW Rabbit that would regularly do 48mpg and 52mpg on the highway!
What happen to the mileage? Thats a significant decrease!
GregH

Greg,

Don't know. Maybe AC, PS, heavier and any emission regulations. Never studied it but I'm commuting on freeways, gets solid 43 hand calculated.

Lower quality fuel now compared to what was available back in the Rabbit days is one factor. And as Gary said A/C, P/S, freeway speeds, a slightly heavier vehicle and a different fuel delivery system.

Wiith an automatic TDI it is worse, 36-38 mpg in the winter. 39-42 mpg in the summer.

Driving like a blue haired old lady on secondary roads staying under 60 mph I did hit 46 mpg on one tankful. At 75 mph plus.....no way.

Mike.
